Gotta admit, being interested in so many players is making this offseason pretty exciting. At this point I'll be dissapointed in Morey if we don't make some moves
At first I was for getting old Pierce because his numbers did look decent. But then i split his stats against eastern teams and western teams. Huge drop off on every major statistic. DO NOT GO FOR HIM!
He was the most effective as a small-ball PF for the Nets. Their season turned around when they began playing Pierce heavily at the PF. If you can land him at around the MLE for a couple seasons, he would be a great guy to play that Carlos Delfino role.
Agreed. I don't think we have a chance at him though because I don't think we are likely to have the MLE and if we do we will probably need to split it. He's either going to resign in Brooklyn for more than he's worth or he's going to the Clippers.
He has the Clippers written all over him. I'm guessing he's already packed his bags, and has started scoping out parking spaces outside Staples Center.
We'll see. I agree that Clips and Brooklyn are favored over Houston at this point if I were setting odds for Vegas. I do see scenarios where Houston will have the MLE while acquring big $ free agents through sign and trades so that the Rockets are never technically "under the cap"-- and I am sure that Morey will try hard to make these scenarios come true, but who knows how it all goes down.
Yes, that is certainly possible. My point though was that in that scenario I don't think we will be able to afford to spend the MLE on one player.
Would be great though. Much needed toughness, leadership and experience. Would have got Harden head out of his ass by Game 1 of the POR series.
A handful of teams, sources say, called after 12:01 a.m. Tuesday to register their interest in Brooklyn swingman Paul Pierce, with the Clippers in particular believing that Jason Kidd's departure has "opened the door" to stealing Pierce away from the Nets. Chicago, Portland, Dallas, Houston and Memphis, sources said, have all formally entered the Pierce bidding. But Brooklyn, I'm told, really only fears the Clippers in this process, with Pierce's beloved Doc Rivers naturally leading L.A.'s recruiting efforts. http://espn.go.com/blog/marc-stein/post/_/id/2619/day-1-free-agency-chatter
So does Morey have interns calling all these FAs? I can't imagine him, Rosas, Brown, and McHale sitting on a phone with their phone book calling all these agents and players lol.
