I don't know about that.... they have a solid team.

    Omer Asik
    Anthony Davis
    Ryan Anderson
    Tyreke Evans
    Eric Gordon
    Jrue Holiday

That front court will be nasty. One of the best in the league. Anthony Davis is a future super star.

    Couple of thoughts

    1) Lin plus the expirings plus picks May get Love - Minny wants to shed salary while gaining picks

2)If the above trade happens, what does Lebron think? He could still come, but, it would cost $$$$. What does he desire more?

Agree on why trade Harden for a player that has opted out? Does not make sense. Trade Harden for a world of picks and sign both Lebron and Melo...although I despise Melo. I prefer to keep Harden.

Yeah, I just looked it up and there are multiple reasons you can't do it.

If a team is below the cap, then its Disabled Player, Bi-Annual, Mid-Level (either the Taxpayer or Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level, whichever applies to the team) and/or trade exceptions are added to their team salary, and the league treats the team as though they are over the cap1. This is to prevent a loophole, in a manner similar to free agent amounts (see question number 39). A team can't act like it's under the cap and sign free agents using cap room, and then use their Disabled Player, Bi-Annual, Mid-Level and/or trade exceptions. Consequently, the exceptions are added to their team salary (putting the team over the cap) if the team is under the cap and adding the exceptions puts them over the cap. If a team is already over the cap, then the exceptions are not added to their team salary. There would be no point in doing so, since there is no cap room for signing free agents.

atleast 2 of those players will not be there next season...not including Davis and Asik...they do have to offload contracts, or risk paying luxury tax for that lineup...

If we get Love, we couldn't afford LeBron.

Thinking more on the lines of Morey keeping his cards quiet, then when Dallas made a cap-clearing move, Morey decided to make a better one saying, "check" to Dallas.

It really seems more like a top 14 pick, given that the West is so strong, that it's either a lotto pick or a top 20. So, with Davis and Gordon always being injured, it is looking like a nice move. Morey would sign a player to a 3 yr 25M contract, only pay 10 of it and get a (likely) lotto pick out of it.

Exciting times. I also think Morey is leveraging the Lin's marketability in China/Taiwan. Any team that gets him in a trade will probably make back much of that $15M in jersey sales and promos.

Because of Yao Ming, our beloved Rockets are the most watched NBA team in China, this may also be part of the pitch to Lebron and Carmelo to increase their opportunities even more so in the largest country in the world.

I think this is key factor in why Morey has opportunities to unload Lin and a bonus in aiding us to sign a Bron or Melo.

No way in hell are we using this pick to dump Lin if it's only top 3 protected. We are gonna tell free agents "we can give you a big 3, plus Parsons, and possibly have a lotto pick next season".

I hope we don't have to sacrifice this asset just to offload Lin. I'm kinda hoping we can find a way to hold onto this pick as it is looking like a late lottery pick next year.

If they stay healthy they'll likely be a playoff team with Asik. Too much D and rebounding.

This. No team can offer close to this. Anyone who is being objective will notice it.

True, but they can be used to acquire salary.....say, to absorb contracts from Minnesota in a simultaneous deal for Love.
