Kind of a pipe dream trade. Doubt it will happen:
    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=pext293

    Beverly/Shumpert/Daniels
    Harden/Daniels/Hardaway
    Parsons/Covington
    Melo/some random veteran
    Howard/Haywood

Ridnour's contract is actually expired - so he wouldn't be part of the deal he's just in there so the deal could go through. Same with Hamilton - and if Garcia opts out it also makes things easier. We'd probably send at least 2 picks to the Knicks. This deal really only works if they're interested in Lin and Melo is definitely a goner. The Bobcats basically get Asik for nothing so I'm sure they take it.

Boston wouldn't want Love w/o Rondo. I wouldn't mind getting Green for Asik straight up though.

There wouldn't be a whole lot of difference between how Rubio plays with Love and how Rondo would play with him. The only difference is Rondo's slashing ability is at an elite level even though he doesn't use that to as advantage as much as he does.

The trade gives Boston so much cap relief dumping Rondo and Green's contracts and allows them to get another star player to pair with Love.

    3Way Trade for Kevin Love

    rockets jazz timberwolves 3way trade

jazz get: J. Lin, Asik, cash & tw 2nd round pick, hou 2nd round pick

timberwolves get: T jones, C Parsons, hou 1st round pick,

rockets get: Kevin Love, Gorgui Dieng, Utah 2nd round pick

I think this is a win if we can land Trevor Ariza in free Agency. What do you think?

Concentrate on trading for Kevin Love.
Nobody wanted to coach the Timberwolves because every available coach knows that Love is gonna opt out of the team and become a free agent.
The Rockets must do everything to keep Harden and Howard on the team.
    Everyone is tradeable, (even Parson!)
As long as the Rockets have a Big 3 in Howard, Harden and Love, every available NBA player will want to join the Rockets even with a minimum veteran salary.
Look at the Miami Heat Big 3 Formula, when the Heat traded for LBJ and Bosh to come join Wade, every other NBA player wanted to come and join the Big 3 -- like Allen, Birdman, Lewis, Battier, Beasley, Oden.

Let's say nothing materializes for guys like Carmelo, Love, or Bosh.

Who would say no to a swap of:
Asik and Jones for Milsaps and Pero Antic

Obviously the Rockets would prefer DMo going instead of Jones, but I would do it with Jones from the Rockets' side. You greatly improve your starting 4 and you get a capable backup for Howard. Both actually give you more cap flexibility in 2015. DMo can be the backup at the 4 and still be your emergency 5.

Provided we don't get a third star (Love, Melo, Rondo, Lebron, Bosh) what if we just swung a deal for Josh Smith and then matched whatever Parsons gets offered. Something like Lin for Smith straight up or maybe but maybe not the 25th pick too.

I know Smith was total crap this year, and he's not exactly the perfect fit when you look at those numbers, but I think when you consider him moving to a team where he's the third to fourth option on a contending team, he would shape his role. In 2009-10, Smith shot only SEVEN three pointers TOTAL all season in 81 starts and shot 50% from the field. Atlanta was 53-29. 3rd in the Eastern Conference. That year was Atlanta's best shot at a playoff run in a while, and he shaped up for that vet team (Bibby, Joe Johnson, Horford, and others)

Contrast that with this year where he shot 264 three pointers and shot 41% from the field on a terrible Pistons team with no real stars or veteran leadership. With Howard and Harden running the show and being the primary guys, I really see Smith playing more to his role like in the 2008-11 years. It's obviously a risk that we get the terrible version of Smoove, but he's the classic buy low kind of move that if it paid off would be HUGE.

Maybe spin Asik to ATL for Carroll and Korver (or somewhere else) and you've got yourself a squad.

Again a Laker fan here, but if you guys miss out on Melo/Love, I still think you could build a solid roster if Parsons doesn't sign an offer sheet.

Dump Lin/Asik/D-Mo on the Lakers and with the cap space, do the following:

Sign Mario Chalmers 3 years $15 million
    - Solid defender and 3 point shooter, has experience playing with ball dominant players and in big moments.

Sign Josh McRoberts 3 years $21 million
    - Excellent passer who would alleviate some of the "sticky ball" play, and he can shoot the 3. Plays with energy and a chip on his shoulder, which I think would benefit you guys.

Sign Thabo Sefalosha 2 years $4 million
-Declining, but still brings a defensive mindset.

Sign CJ Miles 3 years $9 million
-Good shooter and capable defender. Can play either wing position

Sign Lavoy Allen 2 year deal with Room Exception
-Big man with a soft touch who can play either frontcourt position. Focus and intensity waiver, but solid get for the price.

Draft Mitch McGary with pick #25.
-Backup big to develop. Hustle player who brings defense/rebounding.

    Leaves you with

    Dwight/Allen/McGary
    McRoberts/Jones
    Parsons/Miles/Covington
    Harden/Thabo
    Chalmers/Beverly/Canaan

    Very solid team.

I wouldn't be against acquiring J.Smith if all else fails, I even think they could get extra assets for taking his contract on.

So Boston makes a big trade that leaves them in the same predicament as before? Makes no sense. Trade a star for a star and be left with cap space for a second star. They already have that scenario.

I think Horford would be an interesting addition..Atlanta likes Asik so boom! I'm sure they're weary of Horford's return after his pectoral injury...could be a worthy gamble for us.

Agreed. It would take a bit of a package to get him, but I'd definitely want him next to Howard. That would be incredible.

I'd think about putting Parsons in the deal and getting Demarre Carroll in return. Something like Asik, Parsons, Jones for Horford, Carroll

Atlanta would like Asik to pair with Horford, not to trade Horford for Asik.
