This is just not a championship unit. Rockets just need to look at their 94/95 team stop trying build power white boy squads and crap and do what it's going to take to win a championship. Now if Popovich was our coach I could see but under Mchale this lineup would definitely fail... we need a team more like the 08 Celtics or the current Miami Heat if we are not going off our own championship teams.
http://****************/articles/55...rumors-kevin-love-jeremy-lin.org#.U33Qa42KB1s NBA Trade News: Jeremy Lin Likely Heading To Timberwolves, Rockets To Use JLin, Chandler Parsons, Omer Asik in Package For Kevin Love The Houston Rockets are reportedly trying to make some noise this off season, and apparently, one player certainly on top of their wish list is Kevin Love, who is reportedly asking an exit from the Minnesota Timberwolves. After another first-round disappoint in the postseason, the Rockets are out to retool their lineup this summer, as they look to get some elite acquisitions through free-agency and trade market. New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony will likely become the biggest name in the free-agency market, but the Rockets can also land a jackpot on the trading front, where Love is becoming a big target for multiple championship contenders. Love, who averaged 26.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last season, is attracting interest from the NY Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns and the Rockets. These past few months there have been reports about Love's preference to return home and play with the Lakers, while others indicated the power forward's interest in pairing up with Team USA teammate and All-Star Carmelo Anthony in the big apple. However, several analysts believe the Rockets have the assets to pull off a blockbuster trade with the Timberwolves. With Omer Asik, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons and a handful of draft picks in the fold, Houston can certainly send a competitive package for Wolves GM Flip Saunders to consider. The Timberwolves executive has already expressed interest in parting ways with Love, but a trade is unlikely to take place before the upcoming NBA Draft. "For the first time, [Saunders] sounds like looking at deals for [Love] is an option," one rival executive told Yahoo Sports," according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski. Why Jeremy Lin should be in the package for Love? It's very clear that Lin needs a fresh environment to take his career to another level. The Rockets don't give him the opportunity to thrive because he has to bear playing alongside a volume shooter like James Harden. Getting Lin would be an upgrade for the Wolves, who have been sticking with floor general but lesser-talented scorer Ricky Rubio. In addition, the T-Wolves can form an exciting backcourt duo of Rubio and Lin, emanating the wonders Jeff Hornacek did in his first season with the Phoenix Suns, which have explosive guards Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic.
I don't think I've ever said anything bad to anybody on CF before but to you OP, i'm really saying bad thing about YOU behind my comp.
Love is 3 years younger, and plays a type of style that will allow him to play without regressing much as he gets older. Howard completely relies on his athleticism and already has logged in 10 years in the league... If it came down to it, and it absolutely took Howard to get it done (which is a highly unlikely circumstance) I would do it. Harden is only 24 and will have at least 7-8 more years of his prime, Love would most likely still be superstar in 7-8 years when he's 32-33. Howard mostly likely won't be when he's 35-36, probably will drop off when he's around 32. So Love would just give us a championship window twice as long as Howard would.
For the last time Dwight Howard has a no trade clause in his contract, and he for damn sure is not about to waive it for the T Wolves...
No. Howard, if used properly, is a vital cog for championship. (Just don't rely too much on his offensive prowess...) Rockets need a COACH who can really tell Howard to do pick-n-roll and Harden to defend. If you can get Love (also) and several role players to replace Lin/Asik or whoever will be lost to get that 3rd star, then it's good. But everything will just be meaningless if the coach can't coach.
Whoever said he doesn't have a trade clause... so its not really a trade clause but the contract is set up to if we trade him we have to pay his full contract plus 15%, so if we traded him to Minnesota we would have to pay him about $100 million. The clause was put in their first to protect Dwight from coming here then getting traded (he knows how much Morey loves assets) and secondly it was put their so if Dwight changed his mind and was like "I want to be traded" the front office can just say "We aren't going to trade you because it would cost us way to much money." So the real question should be would you trade Dwight Howard and give up $100 million for Kevin Love, and the answer is hell no!
First off I just want to say that I voted no. But what do you guys think is a better front court: Howard/Jones or Asik/Love?
Asik/ Love might be the better front court (though it's debatable, since Asik is such a negative offensive presence), BUT you've set up a false dichotomy. This team seems pretty intent on upgrading that 4-spot so that it isn't going to be Howard/Jones next season.
