The fact that we focus more on the isolation games is why we are an iso team.

The fact that we don't hold all player accountable on the defensive end is why we aren't a defensive team.

 

The worst news is that McFail is returning.

 

In other words, he's telling us what we already knew...the Rockets suck.

That garbage may work in the regular season but, come playoffs, it flat out just doesn't work offensively or defensively. It gets locked down on and exposed. Yea...I'm upset with you, Morey.

offense- both teams have a pick & pop PF, I keep trying to tell you guys, its soooooooooooooooooooo many more sets mchale even could run if he had a PF that could shoot & big enough to set screens, we saw mchale run these plays before we traded PPAT. we have a cneter and 2... you will always see alot of IOSOs until morey brings in a starting PF that can shoot..pick and pop

I am not sure McHale is happy with Harden's isolations all the time.

 

If that's the case then I blame Morey and Harden. Morey can fire McHale if McHale is allowing Harden to be the boss. Why doesn't Morey fire McHale?

I really put the blame on Harden. The best player on a team has to be a leader by playing harder than anyone else on the team. Nothing wrong with a player being the boss if he plays the right way. And Harden must play the right way, and he just isn't doing that. I guess the Rockets can replace the coach every year and hope to find one that can get through to Harden. Or maybe Harden can just grow up and be the leader he needs to be. I'm not sure it's in him.

 

It's frustrating and annoying to hear Jon Barry and everyone repeating 2342342 times, how Portland was surprised by Spurs' defense, while they didn't see any in the first round. But because there are a lot of truths to it, we are annoyed by those comments.

It's NBA, everyone can look like a star if you let them. Scrubs have been going off on us with insane numbers all year long. For some reason, it never really bothered McHale and/or Morey.

We tell ourselves how Blazers are a better team (as a team maybe); how officials screwed us (yes, there were outrages calls at most critical times); how we put up a good fight, just a few bad luck bounces or bone-headed plays costed us the series (yes, the 0.9 second chaos and the Lin decision). But really? The problem is not at a single moment, it's systematic. If we cared to play defense in regular season, we will automatically defend, even harder in playoffs, without bad habits of cheap fouls. More importantly, we will have a reputation with the officials too. If we were ever enforced some disciplines, we probably wouldn't have got to those "unlucky" bounces situations.

Like the game 7 defeat against Jazz, on paper, it was 3 consecutive offensive boards on last possession. But in reality, if we had had players like WorldPeace, Scola, Landry, we wouldn't have given up the first or second, not to mention the 3rd offensive board. Not only that, it wouldn't have come that close to start with. If our Mr. Intangible had scored 10 points in any game, we probably would have closed it out in 5 or 6.

It's not just one guy, but the whole team, whole organization, starting from the genius GM and players' coach. Do we just want entertainment or we want wins? BTW, who can say with a straight face that Spurs' 2-0 are NOT entertaining? It's beautiful basketball clinic, and it all started from defense and team plays.

 

Well in fairness, it's frustrating and annoying to hear anything coming of Jon Barry's mouth. But you're right that this Rockets team far too often made scrubs look like superstars. The most infamous example is the Corey Brewer 51-point game. I've been watching the NBA for well over 20 years and I have never seen a shooting guard score 50+ points in a single game without hitting any jumpshots. Think about it. A SHOOTING GUARD scored 51 without hitting jumpers. The Rockets gave up breakaway layups, dunks, and endless trips to the foul line. All in a game where home court was on the line and the T'Wolves had sat almost every decent player they had.

There are other examples as well. James Anderson, Gordon Hayward, Luke Babbitt, Rudy Gay, too many Denver Nuggets to name, the entire Bulls starting lineup. Some of these are decent players, but it seemed like far too often the Rockets gave up career nights to guys who normally don't put up those kinds of numbers.

 

Wouldn't have mattered...Lin or Parsons would have bricked the open shot.
