Gun "deaths," however, also include accidental shootings and suicides. Suicides are more than double gang murders all by themselves.
ROFL, keep effing that chicken, brah. Make sure to stock up on MREs and buy a bunch of gold, too. Make sure you get the coins, they're collectible!
So you're in favor of Obama sending drones to monitor and kill American citizens. noted, and not surprised
Except for your ignorance in failing to acknowledge the ease with which I can kill you with a gun or even multiple people with a gun as opposed to something else. Ooooops. And my argument isn't against gun ownership per se but the continued fallacies promoted by gun nuts. More guns doesn't equate to a safer society.
Suicides are irrelevant. There are so many easy ways to kill yourself blaming it on guns is just pretty dumb.
Not blaming anything on guns except for the deaths caused by them. You specifically said that gangs account for more "gun deaths" than any other factor. Color me unsurprised that your statement was simply incorrect.
Woah! Making guns illegal will take them off the streets, deter violent crime, and save lives? Damn! We should make heroin and cocaine illegal as well! What a concept.
Your argument is incredibly flawed. It reeks of someone who has never shot a gun and has no idea how they work. Say you're at home at night and you hear robbers break into your home. They could easily be armed. You really can't understand how having a gun could protect you and your family from these people? Oh but wait, instead of defending yourself you should just lay down and surrender because under your logic, there's no way to possibly defend yourself without getting blasted "full of holes." Your scenario is extremely short sighted, you need to think a little bit harder about the self defense situations that could occur. Use your brain and drop the foolish notion that any self defense scenario is just some old west style shootout.
Here's one. To all of you who want guns made illegal, just shut up. It's never going to happen. We love our 2nd amendment.
We were clearly talking about firearm related murders. I said "gun deaths" instead of "firearm related murders" in my original post. They are clearly different issues, and trying to group them together as a whole issue is just dumb.
Saying "gun deaths" instead of "firearm related murders" is stupid if you are making comparisons and/or citing statistics that depend on the definitions of those terms. Forgive me for thinking that suicides undertaken with a gun would count as a "gun death."
I seem to know the difference between a murder and an armed robbery. Maybe you need to think a bit harder.
Guns may or may not help you save your life from somebody who breaks into your home. But even if they do, I doubt they are as reliable as a good alarm system, dogs, etc. Most people that break into homes are there for robbing, not killing. Even if they would kill if they felt they needed to, they aren't there for that purpose. So an alarm or a dog that's going to make noise, get authorities involved, alert people that there are problems, the would be burglars are more likely to leave. You and your family just avoided risk. You also didn't have to kill people, or shoot anyone or anything like that. I'm not opposed to owning guns since I own them myself. I just don't believe that's the most effective way to protect yourself or your family.
What percentage of burglaries include murder? .00001%? Let's protect ourselves by arming the country to the teeth so that in the .00001% case someone may shoot me in a burglary of my home and I happen to have a pistol in my waist band and I can get to it in time then I'll be safe. Your argument in a nutshell.
Burglary was just one example. There are tons of scenarios where having a self defense weapon will save you, your family, or others around. You clearly have extremely low cognitive reasoning capabilities considering you can't understand this.
