damian lillard and it's not even close. stephen curry is good but overrated. when his shot isn't falling, he's practically useless. he's too weak to get to the rack at will. i don't see curry's game being successful when the game slows down and gets more physical in the playoffs. curry is also more injury prone.
Stephen Curry was second in the league in assists this past season. Although he's not known as a facilitator, people familiar with his game believe that his passing and decision-making are his best attributes, not his shooting as the general public believes. Bob Knight dubbed Curry one of the two or three best passers he's ever seen while the latter was playing at Davidson. In nineteen career postseason games, Curry has averaged .436/.393/.900 while scoring 23.3 points per game and handing out 8.2 assists per contest. Although his percentages are decreased from his regular season numbers (.467/.440/.896), it's not at all accurate to state that he's not been effective player in the postseason, as the drop in his shooting numbers is the result of him facing more traps and double-teams in pick-and-roll situations.
What... did you not watch the series? Lillard can hit pull-ups; the Portland offense is just more disciplined.
These debates about point guards always end up being a what have you done for me lately type discussion. I mean last year Kyrie was a top pg in many folks eyes
Agreed. This discussion would not be taking place had Lillard missed his three-point attempt the other night. And it's not as though Curry hasn't had his share of big moments. He's hit several game-winning shots in his career, and although none have had the scope of Lillard's basket, that should in no way diminish the shots themselves. Both Curry and Lillard are fantastic players and will likely be for several years to come. Why not enjoy both rather than picking their games apart? Not everything in life has been to classified by ranking systems or the supposed notion of superiority.
It's amazing how both are amazing shooters at such a young age. Curry is better now, and the foreseeable future. But I want to see how Liliard does in the next round, and how he develops next year as a player.
Exactly before the playoffs nobody probably had him over Westbrook or Curry. It's definitely close between all 3 though
A quick comparison of Stephen Curry and Lillards 2013-2014 season using some common and advance measures. First the advanced analytics. WAR among PG Curry 1st at 15.10. Lillard is 8th with 8.47 WAR. RPM among PG Curry - 2nd at 6.03 1st in offensive RPM 6.41 Lillard - 15th at 2.28 5th in offensive RPM 4.31 Due to being one of the worst defensive pg's ranked 60th with a Defensive RPM of -2.03 Lillard's loses nearly half his +4.31 offensive RPM, while Curry ranked 27th loses only -0.38 DRPM. Curry is top 3 of all players in WAR (15.10) Lillard 30th (8.47) Curry is top 7 of all players in RPM (6.08) Lillard 65th (2.28) Hollinger stats Curry is top 5 of all players in EWA(EstWin+) & VA(Value+) Lillard 24th Curry is 10th overall in PER (24.13) Lillard is 51'st (18.69) Season avgs Curry - 78 games 24 ppg 8.5 assists 4.3 reb 1.6 steals 3.5 to Lillard - 82 games 20 ppg 5.6 assists 3.5 reb 0.8 steals 2.4 to Curry - 47& fg 42% 3pt 89% ft - TS 610% Lillard - 42% fg 39% 3pt 87% ft - TS 568% The gulf between Stephen Curry and Lillard is WIDE. Stephen Curry is at the moment a clearly by almost any metric top 10 player in the League (some would argue top5). Curry led (or was close to) all Guards in the League in metrics covering, scoring, shooting % and assists, in both ratio and volume. Despite being the only STAR on the Warriors and the primary focus of every opponent, Curry led them to the 6th seed and to a 7th game against the LA Clippers. Lillard is a fine player, but unlike Curry has the benefits of playing with a Bonafide ALL-NBA worthy player in Aldridge (top3-4 amongst PF). Lillard might surpass Curry one day, but to do so, he will either need Curry to suffer an injury OR improve as a playmaker (5.6 assists?) become not one of the worst defenders in the league and either develop ELITE level HOF Shooting or become a more prolific scorer through fts and drives.
It's LILLARD Lol if u can't see that.. Dont get so caught up in systems that inflate stats for players like curry and parsons .. Stats are useless
No.. If curry has a big game statistically, warriors can still lose easoly If lillard keeps having big games, blazers will win title Its simple.. Some of you have never played basketball or understood it on a macro level to see what differentiates the two
judgement should be save for after he plays tony parker. Curry went up against CP3 and lost, but didnt fail to impress. Lillard's gotta play a top pg and a strong head coach like Curry did, and coincidentally, they play SAS next.
Millard is a 2nd yr player. Any premature judgment made about him shouldn't change after facing to in 1 series.
I voted Curry because his game isn't entirely reliant on his quickness. He's more consistent shooting wise and has more range than Lillard has. Lillard is much too streaky for my liking ( had him this entire year for a roto league). I'd rather build a team around Curry over Lillard.
The Warriors pace wasn't absurdly higher than the Blazers pace. GSW only averaged 1.3 more possessions per 48. Oh wait...I used a useless stat...sorry.
