I can see Morey putting a stop to coaching rumors early and confirming McHale will be back. What I would like to see in that case is a smarter, defensive assistant beside him. Pay Shane Battier to come help with execution and defensive schemes. Although he likely go straight into media work.

We need a coach that can change the direction of this team; namely

    1) coach an inside-out game, making the focus Dwight
    2) increased focus on defense
    3) balancing egos on a star packed team (Howard, Harden.. and?)
    4) have the credibility to push the players (won a championship).

Isn't it obviously clear? With his prediction for the Rockets to go all the way, even when we were down 3-1. It is JVG.

He coached Yao/T-Mac. He's a defensive maniac. He's won a championship. He loves Houston.

    No more "etch-a-sketch" McHale, please!!

    5. Karl?..........has said negative comments about Melo

I miss JVG. He was the one coach we fired in the past decade that I truly regretted seeing go. I didnt feel like he deserved it, and there was an observable difference between the way the team played before he came and after he started coaching us.

Yeah that'll really instill confidence in that locker room and among the disgruntled fanbase that's quickly running out of patience.

I actually like mchale, hopefully he will just step down to spend time with family like what has been rumored.

I don't think everything was his fault, we just lack that hard nose defense with parsons & harden, you don't need a coach to be out there tell players what to do on a play like that you have to lockup ya man know when to switch be aggressive, we just dot have with harden and parsons being over there PERIOD

but it is time for mchale to go, 2 first round exits, I would have liked to see him with a stretch 4 that can pick & pop but morey didn't give it to him. This causes lack of plays if you don't have a guy that can do this

All of this love for an average NBA coach (Mr. J. Van Gundy) who has a .575 record, a .500 playoff record, never won an NBA championship as a head coach (and only reached the NBA Finals in a strike-shortened season) is pointless.

This team is young, exciting, and can score. Those three things are the exact opposite of every team Mr. JVG fielded fielded. Remember, by the coach's choice, the Rockets were consistently among the oldest teams in the league during those years.

Yep, they won a championship before Mr. Jeff Van Gundy's era, and have rarely gotten past the first round during or afterwards...

They should hire Shane Battier as an assistant, and then promote him to head coach once McHale fails at his job once again.

Yes, bring in Gundy because the last playoffs run under Gundy was such a brilliant success!
