The way for the Rockets to win the series is with Lin running the offense. He has done a great job throughout the series of getting the ball to the bigs and the wing shooters. He can score enough to keep the defense honest. Asik and Howard getting all those touches in the paint or on rolls to the basket was the key to winning Game 5 and a lot of that was initiated by Lin.

times like this when you learn what people of made of.

Lin was getting it everywhere for his blunders in G1-3 and he stepped up BIGTIME tonight.

He's Forest's proverbial box of chocolates; definitely a random chance of supreme satisfaction.

And unfortunately the satisfaction can't occur unless your star SG is on the bench.

Give credit where credit is due. Lin played damn well tonight, and managed to keep his nose out of trouble in the 4th. He provided a ton of relief for a flu-ridden Bev.

But if we're talking from a pure impact standpoint, I'd say the biggest reasons for Rox win tonight in no significant order:

Jeremy Lin stepping up on offense during Harden drought, facilitated ball movement for others with limited turnovers

Dwight coming big on the glass, defensive end AND providing scoring relief in the post

LaMarcus Aldridge's struggles. Did anyone else notice this tonight? Jones did not play elite D, nor did Asik. LA bricked a ton of jumpers that he would've swished in god mode earlier this series.

So long as he is endowed with a power of a PG instead of a 6th option of handling ball, Lin will reward the Rocket as he did in the early regular season.

I trust Lin will do great things and then shoot another airball.

Yes or no, like it matters? :)

It's about himself, his coach, and his teammates.

This is exactly why he won't be on the team next year. It takes a sulking Harden benched by McHale for Lin to finally start playing aggressive, penetrating, and constantly looking to shoot? That's what it takes?

I'd rather have players that complement your star players for better chemistry and optimization of scoring and salary cap. Troy Daniels is a great fit for Harden and Dwight while Lin is a more awkward fit.

I guess that's the package, just inconsistent and erratically good and bad.

Lin played great tonight though. It was good to see him play well. We don't win without his play tonight, no question.

It's obvious that if Harden is struggling we need to get the ball into Lin's hands and hope that he delivers. Parsons is no playmaker. Howard only posts up. Lin may be our only hope when Harden is "off".

It could be flaws in Hardens game as well. He is a ball stopper. So we live and die by him being hot or off.

But its easier to find another "Lin" than another "Harden" so I see your point.
