Honestly it's consistent with his coaching style to let players play. He's just a crap coach when it comes to in game adjustments and decision making. This is nothing new. If he told them to call a timeout before the play however it's hard to blame him for not doing it himself, he's nearly crippled and doesn't move well.

One aspect of this play that I haven't heard mentioned is that Damian Lillard appears to foul Lin as he moves along the baseline. Check out photo No. 2 in photo set at the bottom of this page: http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...lexander-seeks-to-drive-him-from-nba/#22624-2
...and that foul also surely slowed Lin down slightly, allowing Mo Williams to close the gap with Lin.
I see lots of Asians asking "Why McHale sub in Jeremy Lin for?". McHale subbed in Jeremy Lin ironically to take care of the ball. PG are generally the best ball handlers, followed by SG > SF > PF > C. The End.
Look at Mo taking off full speed. He caught up to Lin just in time, with a foot on the line. Such an unlucky play all around
Lin's inexperience is clear. He needs to learn from this and apply this knowledge especially on his new team.
It's obviously gonna be hard, but I can see a couple of teams who might be willing to do it. As for the reasons for doing it, tbh it'll probably be a combination of them needing a PG but also for marketing reasons. When all's said and done, it is a business. Not meant to be a knock on Lin's skill as an NBA player, but there is no denying that will ultimately be a factor due to his popularity in many countries and especially in the Asian countries..
Lin was a careless dumbass (again) on this play yes, but I am still baffled as to why Captain Clueless McHale didnt pull a Doc Rivers and just run on the court and call TO ??? Just goes to show the players are somewhat and extension of the coach who seems to not have a full grasp of rules and gametime decision making, which is almost incomprehensible given the amount of time he has spent in the NBA as a player and coach.
this is the only tureover LIN had at game3 Overtime, lillard was crashing towards Lin, and hooked Lin's leg (people thought Lin slipped). That's two fouls in a play. I think Lin has huge disadvantage play against Lillard on how fouls called,
Yup, I dont think you're allowed to reach across like that, last I heard. And if MoMo was out of bounds with that strip, and the refs turning a blind eye to it all, it _is_ a rather unfortunate sequence of events. I think there is a greater force out there that doesnt want the Rockets to do well. This force in Nevada you say? I leave the location to you
