Sources: McHale using Sampson's absence as an excuse for poor defense

Cyberx : Just curious if you can elaborate a little.

Why do you think the details of this meeting spilled out in the first place or this meeting pretty out there and open for people to witness? It obviously paints McHale in a negative light, and I'm wondering why they would want to do this to their coach during the playoffs. After they part in the Summer I could see it happening, but now seems like an odd time to talk about it outside the room unless there is some friction in that relationship.

Can't really get a new coach soon enough. What other head coach would blame their teams crap defense on an ASSISTANT coach's departure.

Because McHale is letting Dwight and Harden run the offense the way they wanted. Doing whatever they wanted to make them happy.

The way coach Mchale performs in this series determines if he stays or gets fired IMO.

Not sure why everyone is mad at McHale all of a sudden. Morey is the one who decided to hire a clueless puppet coach and then handpick all his assistants. Then the lead assistant who does all the heavy lifting is gone thanks to Morey allowing him to abandon the team whenever he pleases, and here we are now with the clueless puppet coach who's way in over his head at this point. The ironic thing is how so many CF posters argued that McHale was hired to bring a defensive identity since Adelman was supposedly allergic to that end of the court lol.

It is what it is at this point, but my only hope is that Morey's able to set aside his ego and hire a real head coach in the offseason. This doesn't really inspire confidence that he’ll be able to hire a respectable coach who's competent on both ends and not just another puppet to adhere to Morey's glorified streetball philosophy:

What a dirty punk player he was, it brings back bad thoughts every time I see him.

 

As someone who is a firm believer in Morey, he certainly makes mistakes (Royce White, 2011 draft class bonanza, etc) and I have to agree with you them letting him leave before the end of the season was a mistake. I'm not sure why that couldn't wait.

 

Houston is not going to give McHale another contract. He's as good as gone unless we make it to the finals. Even a WCF appearnce gets him the boot.
Just imagine if McHale can get this team turned around and get out of the 1st round and possibly a 2nd rd upset. What do you think a well qualified coach could do with this squad. So yes McHale is gone.

 

pls don't renew the contract. Too much macfail and we need a real coach
