Lets not start that argument guys, either way with Parsons here or gone, i'd still j*zz my pants, twice, if we got Melo.

With Jackson back with the NY I think they're going to push hard to keep Anthony there.

I have yet to comment on this topic, but once again...the NBA is a league which wins with stars...Carmelo would be a terrific addition to this team, bc he would immediately be a low post answer. He is too strong for a 3 and too fast for a 4...He is a superior low post scorer...

The issue stems from what the Rockets promised Dwight...Dwight was promised a chance to work from the post...and with the addition of Carmelo, he would be relegated to being the #2 option in the post. And the major issue as im sure others have mentioned...the addition of a significant ball stopper. We thought TMac was bad, and I see Harden doing similar things...but Carmelo is the absolute worst. Perhaps it was his situation in NY, b/c in the olympics, the guy is a real baller.

The addition of Carmelo gives us low post scoring, low post defense in Dwight, and wing scoring in Harden. That trio looks scary on paper, but gelling might be a real issue.

Personally, imho, Chicago might be Carmelo's best option. Joining Rose, and Noah with a defensive minded coach might actually help him tremendously, and he could find success there under Thibs; who in my opinion always gives his players a legit shot at winning games.

What's more important is who can guarantee we get the big name 3rd star in 2015, be it Love, LMA or whoever? Nobody can. So why take the risk? If we can get Melo this summer, do it with no question asked, period. One bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.

The Knicks won't really have any leverage. The Rockets could find other ways to make room for Melo if the Knicks are demanding Parsons. I don't see the Knicks turning down Lin/Asik/TJones and picks just to be prideful and lose Melo for nothing

They could also just let Melo walk and not be forced to pay 30 million for only T Jones and some picks.

Thats where you are wrong my dear friend. Melo doesn't necessarily need the ball, he needs shots, and Harden wilm give then to him....Harden will be fine averaging 20pts and 8-9 asst. Howard would excel due to two players that command so much defensive attention, not to mention the off rebs and put backs. Bev will be more of a off decoy... hitting Open threes and dicing when needed and primary a defensive stout. Harden is able to do so much as far as scoring and is such a willing passer it would be dynamic once they got used to playing with each other

    Questions:

If that's the case, do we play Melo at the 4?

Bring in another 4 and have Parsons come off the bench?

Do you think after the success Parsons has had in his young career, he would be ok with coming off the bench?

What about a chance to be the main man and making Superstar type money. Will Parsons turn down an opportunity like that gmoney?

Having Asik's bird rights is valuable and they would likely resign him when Chandler expired and/or they could move an expiring chandler for a pick. Passing up two first round picks, jones, and Asik to save money for a team that basically prints it would be short sighted IMO. Plus i think they would love to have Lin back because their PG situation is abysmal.

What if these players are willing to sacrifice some of their game for the betterment of the team?

Melo doesn't always playing in the post either. He can easily play in the post when Dwight is on the bench getting some rest or in foul trouble. There are many ways to skin a cat pimpn.

Also look how deadly the pick n role will be with Harden and Melo when we go small ball. Melo's three point shooting will be a big time threat IMO on this team.

Melo would be a perfect fit here in HTOWN

I'm assuming that if we get Melo it's to play the 4. Also, getting Melo won't hurt our chances to pay Chandler if Les is willing to pay the tax. I think Chandler likes being here and if we pay him what the market will he will stick around.

Does anybody know if we can get Melo and make Chandler an RFA and lock up both long term this offseason? If that's the case Chandler won't have a choice of whether or not he stays but I'm not even sure if that is possible.

Should Melo come the Rocket's offense would be sensationally potent.

Melo has been a volume shooter in New York, but I believe that has alot to do with his supporting cast. Felton-Tyson to Harden-Howard is an incredible upgrade and Melo's ability to get hot and score from any place on the court will leave the defense at a complete loss of what to do. Also, Melo has excellent hands- he can catch all sort of passes that turn quickly into fadeaways or dribble drives.

Defensively, the Rockets wouldn't get much worse (if at all). Chemistry takes time of course, but after seeing Dwight (who has been an absolute blessing, media be damned) in Houston this season I have absolute faith in the power of attitude and mindset. And our Houston Rockets have that mindset.

At this point, I'm pretty confident Melo will be a Rocket next year - more confidence than I had with Dwight. The next question is how Morey can replace Asik and Lin's contributions off the bench with only the MLE and BAE and very little in the way of future tradeable picks.

This is one of the worst arguments you see made these days. The danger of drinking the TS% koolaid. Thankfully Morey isn't so myopic.

The fact is that Carmelo Anthony has one of if not the best mid-range games there is. His TS% may be lower than a guy who penetrates and shoots 3's, but here's the key point that is being missed.

Not everyone on a team can be penetrators and three point specialists.

There isn't enough room. It's redundant to have two James Harden. You need a guy that is going to wreak havoc in a completely different way. Someone who is going to draw defensive attention because they can create. Anthony makes the tough shots other players miss badly.

When you're in crunch time, you are happy if you can get 56% TS. When the defense tightens, you need a guy who is so used to taking the tough shots that it doesn't matter.

That's the problem with this team. We score great for 3 qtrs when the defense is letting us play our game. But when the game is on the line we struggle. Why?

Because all those drives and open three are all of a sudden gone.

You don't have to be a numbers guru to see that having a guy like Carmelo in those situations are going to win you a lot of games. A lot of playoff games.

That's a lot of money to shell out for late firsts, T Jones, and Asik bird rights. I know the Knicks love to waste money, but this deal sucks from the Knicks perspective. They would still be insanely above the luxury tax level and they would be subject to MASSIVE luxury tax penalty since they are repeat offenders. It would be close to $40 million. Then they are forced to take the $15 million hit for Lin. All this only to acquire T Jones and some picks and the bird rights to Asik.

I don't see how a deal gets done.

Asik, Lin, Parsons Jones and picks for Anthony, JR.Smith and Felton

Motiejunas, Hamilton, Garcia to Philly for 2nd Rd pick to NY.

Cut G.Smith and Covington to make salaries work.

    Beverley/Felton/Canaan
    Smith/Daniels
    Harden/Casspi
    Anthony/
    Howard/

    Then we sign free agents.

Would be the best possible trade for Knicks, they'd get a lot of talent, shed Felton and Smiths contracts while getting a good ammount of picks too.

That would be worst possible scenario trade for Rockets, yet i'd still be overjoyed with it.

It really is a dumb argument.

He also tried to use PPS which completely ignores one of Carmelo's primary strengths: Not turning the ball over.

When you use PPP, which accounts for all offense factors, it is a much different story:

    2013-2014

    Harden:
    PPS-1.21
    PPP-1.14

    Melo:
    PPS-1.11
    PPP-1.14

To say Melo is an inefficient chucker is just an ignorant thing to say.

    JTR gonna JTR, though.
