1986 Lewis Loyd, John Lucas, Robert Reid, Ralph Sampson, Akeem Olajuwon, Rodney McCray, Allen Leavell, Jim Peterson, and Bill Fitch was the coach. Team went 51-31 and lost 4-2 in the Finals to Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, Danny Ainge, Dennis Johnson, Robert Parrish, and Bill Walton. That was an all time GREAT Celtics team that won 67 games that year. I'll always remember that shot Sampson made to knock out the Lakers though. The Lakers were a GREAT team too and the defending champs with Magic, Kareem, Worthy, etc. They won 62 games and led the league in scoring at 117 points per game that year and the Rockets beat them 4-1 and put the NBA on notice that they were a young up and coming dynasty themselves just waiting to happen. Too bad the drugs changed everything.
Stevie Franchise's rookie year :roll eyes: I was about 8 and his hang time/circus type shots he would make just fascinated me.
I had the pleasure to club with Vernon, Kenny, Robert, Mario, and Dream back in the early and mid 90's. I was a Laker's fan when I first moved to Houston in 86', I rooted for the Rockets against Celtics in 86!
When I went with my brother to see my first game in 02'. I had the pleasure of seeing Yao, Franchise, and Mobley playing against the Mavs. I also got to see Mike James play. That's all I remember though because I was pretty young.
Damn you necromancers! I guess I missed this thread 12 years ago. I get to vote 20+ years now, but could only claim 10 years when the thread was started. I started really watching in '92-'93 and really got hooked during our playoff loss to the Sonics.
