Draft picks will be more valuable this year than the next. Like he did with Lowry, I think Morey trades Asik + (TJ or Lin or DMo) for a 1st rounder to use in an eventual "3rd star" trade.
I think we should be able to get more than that.., but ill be down for it, since we get Asik contract off the books. I really think we should try to get Korver from Hawks.. That would be a gret fit
I expect Morey to take less risk this time around. The team is expected to compete now. I think it is unlikely that Morey will downgrade the team this year by trading Asik purely for future considerations. If Morey trades Asik, something of significant basketball value right now has to be coming back, regardless of whether it's along with some future considerations.
The statistical probability of Jones ever being better than Millsap is very, very small. Just run the numbers.
The best option would be trevor ariza. If wizards somehow want porter to get minutes and morey doesnt mind taking a mle type contract, martell webster can play 2/3. Its hard to get teams playing playoff ball with good chemistry dont want to disrupt that.
The statistical probability of Jones (age 22-24) being better than Millsap (age 29-31) based on their respective salaries is VERY high. And I don't even need to crunch numbers to figure this out.
Salaries also won't match unless you include Lin or Asik. Otherwise, it would need to be DMo, Greg Smith, Brewer, Jones (or Casspi and Beverley) to make salaries work. So would you trade DMo+Jones or DMo+Beverley+Casspi for Ariza? I think Wizards take either deal myself.
for playoffs we need, in this order 1. Backup center (could be Asik) 2. Backup solid PF (or starter and jones come off bench) 3. Backup 3
I agree. We are a solid bench away from being a true contender. Luckily, Morey's specialty seems to be finding role players out of nowhere (as he did in the T-Mac/Yao era).
a backup PF is what's needed more than a 3&D guy or PG, we can get a 3&d guy and people will complain the whole playoffs about casspi & dmo, I trust Garcia in playoffs backing up parsons, over casspi & dmo in the rotation
