Even though it was a huge risk, the Rox should have picked up Bynum. For so little money he could have been a bargain. The only thing that makes me believe they didn't go for him is that they 1. either have a trade lined up that includes a big man or 2. Asik is staying put and has agreed to play ball and the Rox just wont trade him for crumbs.
I agree... I don't think Asik is going anywhere this year but back to the Rockets bench and build his trade value back up for the off season.
DRUNK PROPOSAL: Westbrook, Perry Jones to Houston Asik, Lin, D-mo, 2nd rounder to OKC Why? OKC gets a team oriented (oriental...no pun intended) PG that can facilitate the team, and also score at an effortless pace throughout the game. Durant has shown he can take complete control of the game and not be held back by Westbrook. Asik starts instead of Perkins and plays TT next to Iblaka. They completely shut down the lane against any opponent. Dmo is an asset to be traded or used. Houston gets their Big Three. We only pray Westbrook, Harden, and Dwight can share. P Jones III takes place of Dmo as backup 4. The only doubt: Presti answers Morey's call.
Would like to afflalo somehow, not sure what the magic would want but I'm guessing they would want t jones and like to dump big baby on us. We really need a defensive win who can score as well. Would have loved lee but this is prob the better option.
Asik and Thorton to NO Eric Gordon, Brewer, Smith to Kings Derrick Williams, Morrow, Stiemsma and Kings 2014 2nd rd pick to Rockets Why? We get much need depth to our bench and all won't be here past 2015. New Orleans gets rid of Gordon and will get Asik to pair with Davis Kings gets an upgrade at SG to try and appease Cousins Bev/Lin/Brooks Harden/morrow Parsons/Garcia Jones/Williams/Casspi Howard/Dmo/Stiemsma
Afflalo stopped playing defense when he took on a bigger scoring load. The truth is that there are very swing players that take a huge offensive responsibility and still defend. Even Kobe Bryant stopped defending well over a decade ago. Most the historically good perimeter defenders (Dennis Johnson, Joe Dumars, Tony Allen, Ron Artest, Shane Battier) did not carry a huge offensive load. There is always Michael Jordan but, well he is the greatest basketball player ever.
Woj Tweeted today that NOLA is active in trade talks with Jason Smith out for the season. What about D-Mo for Anthony Morrow? NOLA gets a big man with range to replace Smith and the Rockets get 46% 3 point shooter (42.7% for his career) to come off the bench.
Houston Rockets Trade Breakdown Change in Team Outlook: -0.4 ppg, +5.6 rpg, and -0.3 apg. Incoming Players J.J. Hickson 25 year old , 6-9, 242 lb PF from North Carolina State 11.5 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.3 apg in 27.4 minutes Andre Miller 37 year old , 6-2, 200 lb PG from Utah 5.9 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 3.3 apg in 19.0 minutes Outgoing Players Jeremy Lin 25 year old , 6-3, 200 lb G from Harvard 13.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 4.5 apg in 31.0 minutes in 2013-2014 Donatas Motiejunas 23 year old , 7-0, 222 lb C from Benetton Treviso (Italy) 4.3 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.9 minutes in 2013-2014
I like Anthony Morrow a lot and would love to have him off the bench. But he is a 3& player. In other words, there's no D. I'd sign him and put him on the roster but I wouldn't trade DMO (a big) for him (a small) especially since he can't play defense.
I'd gladly take Morrow off of their hands for the right price. He doesn't play D, but he's a Kyle Korver level type shooter at a fraction of the price. I wouldn't give up D-Mo for him, though. P.S. Happy 10,000 to me
Stolen from a Wizards fan on RealGM, but I like it alot actually: It leaves some questions regarding what to do next season, as both players are expiring, but I think it opens up enough cap space to chase down a Kyle Lowry in free agency which is a step in the right direction. No Kevin Love in 2015, but still hope for a Paul Milsap or allows Jones to develop more.
Respectfully, I hate that proposal. The way it's set up it's a classic salary dump; only Asik's contract isn't THAT bad. The balloon payment isn't terrible when you factor in the actual cap number. For essentially two first round picks + Asik, I'd stand put and take my chances elsewhere.
Houston IN: Enes Kanter, Brandon Rush, 2014 1st Round pick (via Golden State). Utah IN: Omer Asik, Donatas Motiejunas, 2014 2nd Round pick.
how about Lin + Asik + Brewer to Lakers for Gasol + Meeks + Young. Maybe a pick to sweeten the deal. Gives you 2 solid perimeter gunners. Allow Gasol to expire and chase after Lebron/Carmelo/Bledsoe/Lowry/etc this summer.
And in doing so start the next Lakers dynasty while we sputter into playoff mediocrity with Dwight and Harden? Hell no.
I think you are underestimating Dwight and Harden with Parsons, Meeks (both 40%+ 3pt this season) and Young (36%+ 3pt). That would be a beastly offense. Not sure where Gasol fits...backup center lol. Main point is, if you don't think you are winning it this year, then get rid of Lin/Asik's contracts which are hindering the signing of that 3rd star this summer. Lin/Kobe/Asik under D'antoni would be a good team, but come on, dynasty?
