I can't believe that no one has said.... Lionel Hollins I guess no one says it because he hates Morey analytical stuff, but he could get us to play defense.
The guy Dwight tried to get the hell away from in Orl? And did you seriously suggest that fruitbasket Sloan? Lol JVG was another controversial guy that everyone wanted fired. Who wants Rudy T back? He's not doing much with the Lakers.
trade some bench players away to get better 3 pt shooters. Jimmer Fredette is shooting close to 50% 3pts and will be a FA next year. He is a small Reddick but just as deadly from 3pts. We trade with Kings often, may as well trade again to get a more consistent 3 pt specialist. The Kings have declined team option on Jimmer to develop their high pick McLemore. So they should probably want to trade Jimmer to get some value back.
Larry Brown looking good for SMU imo. Maybe we can steal him. He usually gets bored after a couple of years right?
He'll also make us forget how to play offense. Memphis last year 21st in FG%, 24th in assists, 27th in points. If the game of basketball is where the coach can basically mold his team into his liking, the Rockets would quickly become one of the worst offenses in the NBA.
Morey is just waiting for Battier to retire from playing and then he will bring him in as the heir to the throne. That's five years down the road, though.
Battier seems too nice a guy to be a coach. You kinda need a hardass like Jerry Sloan and to a lesser extent Popovich. It's part of the reason why McHale is so ineffective; because he just wants everyone to like him. I think Battier within 15 years will become a CEO of an NBA team rather than a coach. More networking and relationship building than staying up watching film each night.
OP probably thinks Karl will cater to Lin. Karl would bury him at the end of the bench. McHale's been too easy on Lin, if anything. Any other coach would've benched him permanently already.
George Carl would be amazing!! You see how bad the nuggets are this year without him. Sure they lost igodala but the fact that they drastically dropped as a term from top 5 to bottom 5 shows the greatest of the 2013 NBA coach of the year. Give him a team like the Rockets with all the superstars and Im confident that the team will go far.
He definitely would make a great assistant, and in fact he was already a player-coach of sorts with the Rockets, as well as a locker room leader. He's a known stats and film junkie as well. He does come off as being personable and an easy interviewee, though I'm not sure that necessarily means he's overly concerned about being likable. Would these qualities translate into a great head coach? I don't know, but I'm sure he'd be given a chance if he wants the job.
Let Yao be the coach, I don't care. Its a crazy idea.... But it might just work. Worst case, we get a top 5 pick.
