We gutted the entire team, really? Martin, Lamb, Morris, Robinson and Delfino is gutting the team? We kept Lin, Jones, D-Mo, Asik and Parsons, right? "gutting" is a bit of an exaggeration don't you think? What Rockets are blowing up on other teams? Lowry and Dragic? I'd trade them for Howard and Harden every day of the week. Do you think that there's a GM in the entire league that wouldn't make that deal? Would you rather be back with the Lowry, Dragic, Martin Rockets? What is your preferred solution? We should have acquired Lebron or Durant? What would have been the right move? Who's the star without flaws that we could have/should have acquired? Which team in the league doesn't trade players if it will make the team better? Exactly who are those team? Good defensive teams blow us out badly? Let's see. Against the top 10 teams in points allowed we are 9-5. Against the top 10 teams in opponents fg% we are 8-5. Not only aren't we getting blown out badly by top defensive teams, we have a winning record against those teams.
letting dragic walk & replacing him with jeremy lin has to keep morey up all night... that is his biggest blunder.
not true. he did not resign with the Rockets because he wanted a 4th year player option. Morey would not abide..
To be fair, there was an unprecedented churning of players. A handful of the moves look absolutely awful. In some sense, that is to be expected. But we did get Harden, and we freed up space to shoot our wad on Howard. Also to be fair, we are about as close to third place as we are to being out of the playoffs. Reality seems to be sinking in.
When we let Dragic walk. We didn't have Harden or Howard. Would you have kept Dragic knowing that the option year "could" have prevented the Rockets from signing an allstar?
This. Now that we finally have 2 cornerstone pieces, Morey can actually build a championship team instead of settling for a team that always drafts in the middle first round.
How the hell is Dwight not a superstar? He took the Magic to the finals as easily the best player. At one point he was the second or third best in the LEAGUE. Not a superstar? Get out of here.
that has nothing to do with anything... dragic's contract wouldn't have stopped the Rockets from signing Harden and Howard... in fact, dragic makes less money than jeremy lin...
If Washington or Golden State accepted OKC's offer, then Houston would not have Harden, and then would not have Howard.
yes..... but, what does that have to do with morey allowing dragic to walk & then signing lin to a more lucrative contract?
the 4th year option had the potential to prevent them signing a max player. Why do you think Lin, Asik and all other contracts who's name is not Harden or Howard's contract expire at the same time?
So far, I agree with Morey that White and Terrence Williams were the biggest mistakes. So far. I have a feeling that a year or so from now, we might say that Dwight Howard is the biggest mistake. I suggested that the most basketball reasonable way to deal with the Howard-Asik situation is to trade Howard for someone like Aldridge. Asik-Aldridge would give us a better chance for the title than Howard-Jones.
Naw, letting Lin walk and seeing him blow up in NY definitely kept him up at night as well... especially after the reaming he got from Les. His biggest blunder was not supporting Lowry over Dragic.
Once again, the Lowry trade gave us a 1st rd pick that resulted in Harden. And it wasn't really between Lowry and Dragic, Lowry made Morey choose between him and McHale. I wonder if the Rockets underachieve this season and in the playoffs, maybe Morey might consider a coaching change and bringing Lowry back.
Dwight has been our best player all season. Not one person in that front office is regretting getting Dwight. Not for a second. Dwight is not the problem. It is OK to hate the guy and not want him on the team but to say we are better off without him is foolish.
