I use to think McHale was a Les Alexander hire as well but have been hearing lately that Morey was big on McHale as well. As far as Asik, when he started asking to be traded in off season, I could see him being a problem. I wish Asik could have been a team player and just play but he wanted to start and was not interested in backing up Dwight so it would have been great to get some get something for him in off season. Rox would have been able to get better deal than they probably will be able to get for Asik now.
If Asik would just man up with gold bond we would be so much better. We have the talent. Can't blame morey. He's probably more pissed than any of us right now.
Morey and McHale have created an environment where every Rockets player is playing for themselves like it's an open tryout in the D-League or a singing competition. Instead of having a set rotation where everyone knows their role, everyone is dribbling the ball trying to "be the man".
Bev as a 3rd string PG who is a defensive specialist against SOME smaller/quicker PGs yes. He is useless against the taller/stronger PGs. Bev is so bad no one in their right mind would say the Rockets lost because their 12 Per PG who can't get an assist is hurt. Plus Bev's defense is useless against the Thunder guards. They scored easily on him in the playoffs last year. Bev is not that good. He is excellent SOMETIMES against some small PG on D. That is all he brings to the table. Playoffs Game 3 Reggie Jackson 25 min, 14 points, 3-6, 50% FG Derrick Fisher 24 min, 9 points, 3-6, 50% FG PGs 23 points on 50% FG Game 4 Beverly played 37 minutes Reggie Jackson, 18 points, 7-18, 39 FG% Derrick Fisher, 12, points, 4-7, 57 FG% PGs 30 points, 44% FG Game 5 Beverly played 39 minutes Jackson, 20 points, 7-15, 47 FG% Fisher, 8 points, 2-6, 33.3 FG% PGs 28 points, 42.8 FG% Games 6 Jackson, 17 points, 7-15, 46.6 FG% Fisher, 11 points, 4-6, 66.66 FG% PGs, 28 points 52.3 FG%
Because it ridiculous to lionize a 12 Per PG who is a rookie who can't get an assist and brings zilch to the table except for some great D and only occasionally. One game he gets burned by a scub PG the next game he plays great D. 12/20 against the Pacers Bev 30 minutes Hill scored 12 points on 5/8, 62.5 FG% Watson scored 8 points on 3/3, 100 FG% Sloan scored 2 points on 1/1, 100 FG% Total PGs 22 points on 9/12, 75 FG% 12/15 against the Kings Bev 31 minutes Isiah Thomas scored 19 points on 7/12, 58 FG% 12/4 against the Suns Bev 42 minutes Bledsoe/Dragic scored 39 points on 13/25, 52 FG% 12/2 against the Jazz Bev 38 minutes Burke/Burks scored 42 points on 19/29, 65.5 FG% 11/30 against the Spurs Bev 37 minutes Parker scored 27 points on 13/27, 48.1 FG% 11/20 against the Mavs Bev 37 min Calderon/Larkin scored 21 points on 7/13, 53.8 FG% 11/16 against the Nuggets Bev 27 minutes Lawson 28 points on 11/19, 57.8 FG% 11/13 against the Sixers Bev 42 minutes Andersen 36 points on 12-16, 75 FG% Wroten 18 points, 10 reb, 11 asts Who did the incredible Bev stop? Mentioning Bev not playing is the same as saying we lost because Canaan did not play
Dude -- you're going off the deep end right now just b/c someone said his absence could have been acknowledged. It really isn't that serious.
He attacked HOFers on TNT for not mentioning Bev is hurt. Why would HOFers mention a 12 Per PG who is inconsistent on D and can't get an assist is hurt. They didn't mention Bev because he is a scrub. They also didn't mention Canaan not playing for the same reason. Now if DH or Harden didn't play they would mention that point
You think he is a scrub. Others do not and think his absence has an impact. Disagreeing is cool, but you are doing the absolute most right now. I know you get off on it and I'd hate to spoil your fun, so carry on.
Pretty much 100% of NBA fans think he is a scrub. All they have to see is he has a 12 Per and can't run an offense or dish out assists. His D can be spectacular as I said many times but can also be putrid. Only a few Rockets/Bev homers think he is anything but a 3rd string PG not worth mentioning when the Rockets lose against the Thunder. Guess what if the Rockets lost against the Clippers without Bev I would agree Bev MIGHT have made a difference because he plays great D against small/quick PGs like CP3. Against the Thunder Bev is beyond irrelevant.
The only reason Bev's absence has any effect at all... is because he's a player who's better on defense than he is on offense... on a team that's miserably poor defensively... That's not saying much as far as the player, but more about the state of this team... He wouldn't be seen nearly as valuable on a contending team...
Ok KlutchQT. You are HOFer Shaq. You are HOFer Barkely You are 2 time NBA champion Kenny the Jet Smith. Would you mention the absence of Bev as an excuse on national tv for the Rockets losing? Almost no one outside of Houston even knows who Bev is except he is the scub who recklessly ran into an all nba PG Westbrook calling a timeout and caused him to ruin his knees and become injury prone. Westbrook who is one of the best players in the league and has never been injured in college or the NBA is all of a sudden having all kinds of knee problems because the scrub ran into him when he was calling a timeout. That is Bev's only achievement in his short NBA career. Dude has not even played 82 games yet. He's a rookie and he has played very poorly in a lot of the games he did play.
Well, duh. He plays a pretty limited role on this team, as does everyone outside of the core. To that extent, every player on the team has value in my eyes. I just find it silly for someone to get so angry and worked up b/c another fan dares to note a player's absence. But I digress... I should have known better than to comment and just let the bash session go uninterrupted.
Answer the question. If you were Shaq, Kenny, Charles would you even know when Bev is not to mention it on national tv as an excuse lmao. They played without all nba Pg westbrook. The Rockets played without a PG who might be a borderline 3rd stringer. Not a lot of people mention missing a 12 Per PG who is inconsistent on D
Morey's not taking the blame, but he's working out the kinks. A few guys are going to be moved (unless "basketball reasons" happens again or Morey doesn't pull the trigger in time). These moves will help, but are not going to be the "superstar" type of moves.... As much as I despise McHale as a coach, he's with us for at least the end of the season. It's all going to depend on how far we go into the playoffs. To me, a first-round exit is immediate termination.
They lost.....that's it. The second half was all about offensive execution. OKC made an adjustment on defense and the Rockets did not counter. That's on McHale. His only move was to sit Lin when the lead was 10 and not bring him back until OKC was up 7 points. It was a long shot to win that game anyway, but McHale should've stuck with Lin in the 4th quarter as he is the only player who could've exploited OKC's overplay on the 3 pt shooters and Howard. Harden could do it too but he had a taller, more athletic guy on him (Durant).
Your reading comprehension is so very poor. I'm not even the person who suggested it should have been mentioned, and the person who did say that did not suggest that his absence should have been used as an excuse for the loss. What he suggested is that noting us missing two of the guys who are significant pieces of the rotation -- or at least intended to be, in Asik's case -- helps to contextualize the team's circumstances at the moment for the national audience. We have not been working with the rotation we anticipated at the start of the season when national expectations were set... so though I do not expect national sports media to acknowledge that fact, it would be nice if they did while proclaiming our pretender status to a national audience who probably has no clue. Like the guy who set you off said, they also didn't mention the fact that we were on the 2nd half of a back-to-back. Is that the reason we loss? No. Are they obligated to mention it? No. Would it be nice if they did, given that they're setting public perception? Yes. You have very personal negative feelings about Beverley and seized on that portion of the guy's post to indulge in one of your usual trash sessions -- but I think his post was less about "lionizing" Bev, and more about being frustrated that those guys frequently tear this team down without providing (or even being concerned with) some of the factors that have contributed to where we are right now.
