Yeah, coaches and owners and teams go to another level on fines. And, for players, suspensions have cost much more than fines -- Artest lost something like $5m for punching out a fan in the stands. But, for fines levied on players, I didn't find anything higher than $50k. And the Spurs totally deserved that fine.
Disagree. NBA was right to fine the Spurs and Pop. Pop has been known to pull stunts like that before. Ironically and fittingly they choked against the Heat in the finals. When Popovich should have been sitting Manu on bench, he had him on the floor, while Manu served turnovers after turnovers like it was a free breakfast day at your local IHOP.

I felt sorry for myself because I had a hole in my shoe...then i met a man who had his sneaker untied.....Pogo
That's turrible. Something as simple and stupid as that can lead to an injury or worse a career ending injury- if the player doesn't realize his shoes are untied and trips or even worse injures another player in the process.
lmao im glad they hit him with a 50k fine. They warned this moron not to do it again after the Mavs game, he proceeds to do it again the very next game. Dennis Rodman 2.0 here ladies and gentleman.
Knicks Begin Exploring Trade Options With J.R. Smith The New York Knicks have begun exploring their options in trading away J.R. Smith. Smith was fined $50,000 on Wednesday for repeated unsportsmanlike behavior on the court. Smith signed a four-year, $24.7 million contract in the offseason with the Knicks. Smith cannot be traded before Jan. 15 and have privately acknowledged that it would be difficult to deal him. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Knicks are trying to get Smith in line with leaking talk of exploring a trade. http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/231424/Knicks-Begin-Exploring-Trade-Options-With-JR-Smith https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/421038137385558016
I don't think JR Smith is tradable with his unprofessional conduct on/off court! 1. Two seasons ago, Smith was fined $25,000 for posting inappropriate pictures of woman on his Twitter account at 4 AM. 2. Another $25,000 fine earlier this season for a Twitter war with Detroit’s Brandon Jennings who questioned the validity of Smith’s younger brother Chris making the Knicks’ roster. 3. Started the season with a five-game suspension — without pay — for violating the league’s anti-drug policy. Wait, there’s more… 4. Smith was fined $5,000 for flopping against the Pacers, suspended one game for elbowing Boston’s Jason Terry during the playoff. 5. Smith was banned 10 games in 2006 for taking part in an on-court fight. 6. In 2009 pleading guilty to a reckless driving rap. 7. Nuggets suspended him three games in 2007 for his role in a Denver nightclub incident. Any team sign him will need to hire a strong PR firm to manage their image!
