I'd be disappointed if that is true. I don't like it when players think they don't have to fulfill their obligation of being interviewed. Just from looking at the boxscore, it looks like he didn't have a good game. If so, owe up to it and move forward. Maybe there was a legit reason. Who knows. Maybe Clutch has insight.

We need Beverly back - we need his defensive intensity on the perimeter.

Who cares if guys talk to the media? I'll never understand why that matters to fans. For the most part the media manufactures negative stuff

I want to know what Patrick Beverley you guys keep seeing who can magically prevent Harden's defensive lapses. Maybe I'm missing something, but unless he's Quantum Beverley and can be in two places at the same time, there's no physical way for him to stop Harden's man from getting open while simultaneously defending his man as well.

You could have Gary Payton out there next to him, and if Harden just stands there, his guy is going to get open. Period.

Just curious...why just Bev? How on earth can we watch the front court play like zombies and blame the PG position for defensive ills. If anything I'd say PG is the BEST defensive position we have and that includes the center position.

Beverley covers Lin's lapses, not harden.

You can't have two defensive liabilities in the backcourt.

Yeah, I like Beverley but in all honesty, he's a nice energy player to have. Getting him back brings a solid perimeter defender but I don't think the team changes dramatically with him out. There's still are fundamental issues.

If Harden is down for 3 weeks, who is going to hold the team together and take up a lot of his missing production? If you say Beverley, you're being dishonest. Lin will and will hold his own defensively. That's why Lin is one of the impact and major players on the Rockets. Sorry you feel a need to put him down seems like every chance you get.

If Harden goes down, I would expect Lin to step up and offer the play making and ball handling. How that is relevant to what I posted however is a mystery.

I am not putting anyone down. I am critiquing the strengths and weaknesses of our players.

Lin is a weaker defender on the team. He is isn't bad, just not good. Lineups with Beverley outperform identical lineups with Lin, offensively and defensively. That is not me putting anyone down, that is just what the data shows.

larsv8, not everybody holds your opinion that Lin is not a good defender. Including Derek Parker who got pretty annoyed when a reporter suggested he was after the recent game with the Spurs.

I think the lineup data you showed came back with too small a sample size, a stat person could elaborate on that.

I think both Beverley and Lin work their butts off and give great energy to winning in the team and both play good defense with Bev's being overall better. Offensively, there's just more Lin can do to help the team's offense work well and Lin and Harden are potentially a strong backcourt if McHale would think of developing that and get a real defensive guru to help them with their defensive issues.

Funny, I googled Derek Parker and among the first results were a Britisher writer and another footballer. Yet you only paid attention to the male pornstar.

King1, is there something you want to tell us ?

You can find this data on page 17 of this thread.

Lin is big enough and strong enough and explosive enough to play SG in the NBA.
