How well Lin play defense sometimes depend on the teammates too. It's pick n roll that's hard to guard....it doesn't matter how great a defender you are....you can still get burned if your teammates are not helping you out.

When the Rox are at full strength I still feel Lin best helps this team off the bench. Our bench recently has been pure ass, especially Garcia. The bench almost always loses the momentum lately. Lin when playing under control is a good spark off the bench.

You make valid points but I was addressing a chorus of posters who went on and on and on about Lin, in his first game back, having 5 TOs and 2 assists and going on about his assists to TO ratio. That was so stupid and annoying especially because he scored 20 on 10 shots and got to the line for 10 shots where he made 7. Lin can pass the ball and guys have to make the shots after the pass for him to get an assists. He was out of sync in the first game back and instead of being understandable about him being rusty, they were just being a bunch of jerks about that one stat in the previous games. He shut them up tonight.

I disagree. He held calderon SCORELESS in their first matchup this season. Lin just has to be more disciplined as u say in D, and more consistent.

Lin has always been a decent defender for people who have been watching games since last year

He has a problem with trying to cheat and help double team to get steals which sometimes leads to other players getting steps on him to hit 3s, when he's man on man he's pretty old and stays with his man

Jeremy is quick and smart enough to be a good defender. His problem has always been playing off his man and cheating the passing lane. He needs to spend some time with the assistant coaches and watch game films. He needs to learn who he can sag off of and who he needs to wear like a sweater.

If the problem is Beverley can't lead the 2nd unit, then swapping lin is just a bandaid solution. I think AB needs a chance to lead the 2nd unit. Then we need to trade asik and Beverley for some depth on our bench.

Yep you're right it wasn't bad, should've held Parker to 1-11 instead of 3-11.

He did the same thing to Lillard when they met earlier this year too. He isn't a lockdown defender but to say hes bad is a stretch. Most people just regurgitate stuff they hear from ESPN.

Too late. They're already eating crow.

Trade asik and bev and bring depth to the bench

Bev has a higher trade value at this point. I'm sure the Rockets could get a great deal for him and Asik.

When you say stupid **** like this it doesn't help your position and significantly dumbs down the forum.

Defense is being in the right spots and contesting shots, not what the opposition's statline is on any particular night.

Funny u mention that. Everyone says the same thing for lin, but they always bring in actual stats to prove otherwise. What goes around comes around. Fair is fair

In particular, the PnR defence was much better tonight. The bigs did a better job of allowing Lin to recover to Parker, its a TEAM effort to contain great players.

    Please.

This goes both ways, people pull numbers about James Anderson getting a career high, use that to show how Lin is a horrifying defender when Lin was for the most part in good position and contested shots against a bigger man.

You're the same poster who said it'd be a win-lose situation if the Rocket WON with Lin, because LOFS would be creaming their pants.

Practically everyone is of the opinion that Lin played great defence tonight, he battled through screens, recovered well, and the bigs did a great job of helping him in defending Parker.

Beverley gets his dues rightly so when he shuts down Lillard/Curry, but I'm sure you don't have any issue when clutch tweets statlines in support of Beverley (rightly so).

Steph Curry with Beverley in the game: 0-5 from the field, 4 points, 4 turnovers. Two of those points came on *technical* free throws.
— ClutchFans (@clutchfans) December 7, 2013

stop letting you're disdain for LOFs cloud your judgement of Lin. He played a very good defensive game tonight with the help of much better overall team defense. He was not "not bad"

I've been saying this too. Asik + Bev trade is ideal for this team's growth.

Trade Asik and Beverley for a starting PF. Play Brooks at backup and use Canaan as the third string PG.
