I don't think it's about the D-League. To improve his offense, MKG has to dedicate an entire offseason or two to improving his broken shot. He has to get fanatical about it. I'm very disappointed he didn't take drastic measures after his rookie season. There is no excuse for zero progress. But maybe it's impossible to fix and he knows it.
Man that would b something. He already is a great defender, anything else he adds to his game is a bonus. No he's not likely going to be a star, but he's going to give you all out hustle and defense and that is more of what this team needs. Would probably take too much to get him at this point, his value is likely still very high since the Cats can sell teams on 'potential' still.
I'd love to get MGK, idk if we have the assets to get him though. Although... Walker Gordon Henderson Jefferson Asik Is actually a very serious team, would definitely make top 5 in the east. Bobcats should give morey a call.
MKG seems to be headed to that dreaded salary range between the MLE and the max. Not good enough to pay him the max and still enjoy a discount, but with enough potential that someone will offer more than the MLE to steal him away, negating any possible MLE-discount. In other words, the team that signs him will pay the full premium for him. It might be wise for the Bobcats to avoid that situation and trade him for someone with whom they might later get an MLE-discount or a max-discount (or at least a renewed rookie-scale discount). Of course, it may be wise for the Rockets to also avoid that situation.
The Rockets were high on getting TWill for a later #1 pick, that is different than being HIGH on a player overall. As for Morris, he is having a good year, and he was taken by the Rockets in part because the players they liked were off the board. Everyone knows Royce was/is a waste......... still, when you look at the list of players the Rockets are linked to, they overall have done well.
I'd also point out a whole lot of data has become available between draft day and today on MKG. Whatever the Rockets knew back then that might have informed how much they wanted him on draft day, they know 10 times as much now. What they thought back then hardly matters now.
