Dude please. Please don't bring up Brandon Bass and us giving Boston a first rounder again. You'd have to be a Celtic fan to think that was even feasible.
Brandon Bass is one of the last players we would ever want on this team. And to give up a first rounder to get him.....is a total joke. Boston will have to give away a first rounder to get rid of his contract.
That looks about fair, it makes sense for the Rockets, but the Celtics would have to want to win now. Which would make no sense to me. They seem headed to a high pick.
I think that idea just died when Davis broke his hand tonight. They will now need Anderson as their starting PF.
Why not just keep Lin? He's a good player. Asset wise, it's a good deal for the Rockets. But a contender should look at winning games now, not just assets. I think the Bulls wouldn't do it either -- why waste assets on a season where you won't win a title anyway.
How's this? http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mbmazcl We get back an expiring(bad contract) and a back-up for Howard, a young player and a pick or two. They get a better starting center and a better back-up PF/Center. Works for both teams.
Asik, picks, money, T jones, strippers, dinosaurs... for love Lin/bev Harden Parsons Love Howard Rubio Martin T Jones Asik Pevolic Strippers dinosaurs
IMO, if you trade Asik, you need to get a backup center. Maybe Smith and/or D-Mo can serve as backups, but they are both unproven so far. I guess that as long as Asik is a Rocket they will be hard pressed to get those minutes to showcase their talent. I could not open that above suggested Cleveland trade, but Cleveland can certainly use Asik caliber starting center. If they put Lin as their starting PG and move Kyrie Irving to SG, they would be much better off. The Rockets would get a very well rebounding backup center and a combo-guard Waiters, who is relatively good 3 pt shooter (not as good as Lin, but still). Varejao has an expiring with a team option for an additional year and Waiters is on a rookie contract (1 more year+team option). If Cleveland adds a first rounder to the deal, I think it could be a good deal for both sides.
I am a Blazer fan. I am also a Jeremy Lin fan. How about this trade. Jeremy Lin Omer Asik for Wesley Matthews Robin Lopez All players have two years left on their contracts. Why Houston does the trade: I honestly don't know what Asik is going to fetch. But all I'm saying is that Lopez is a decent center. In fact he's played so well this season I'd hate to see him go even for Asik straight up. But Asik is clearly a better defensive player. Lopez will be a willing backup for Dwight. Don't discount Lopez, he's young and he's played incredibly well this season (it doesn't reflect on his stats) As for Matthews. I think you guys have capable PGs with Brooks and Beverley. Matthews brings some 3 point shooting and a 6'7 guy who can play some defense. Why Portland does the trade: Asik is a clear upgrade over Lopez. Although I haven't seen a ton of the guy and he's basically had one good season in his young career plus the pouting doesn't exactly make the heart grow fonder. I only like this trade for Lin, I think Lin would be a great fit next to Lillard. Lin's problem is that everything he likes to do, Harden does better. Lillard is more of a shooter than driver, in fact the Blazers don't really have a slasher. Lin isn't a 20ppg slasher but he that's clearly his strength and I think he's better than anyone else on the Blazers roster. There's clearly a defensive downgrade going from Matthews to Lin but I think the offensive upgrade would make up for that.
Because the Rockets have a sheet load of point guards...Even Parsons is handling the ball more now... Instead of them trying to turn Lin into a shooting guard just go out and get one... It's not always about winning championships in the NBA _ it's about making money and keeping people entertained and coming to games. That's why Chicago could use Lin. Plus Rose may never be the same... Lin would have the opportunity to be the face of that organization...
Well frankly I think we don't know this stuff well enough to make those kind of assessments. What I do know is that the Bulls sell out all the time, and I know that per Forbes, they are the most profitable NBA team even since Jordan. But still, I've no clue how much economic value Lin could add for them over the next year and a half vs. the 17ish mil he's still owed. Maybe it is a significantly profitable move, in which case sure, I could see them making a move like that. Or maybe it's not. I doubt that we really have enough insight into it, so I focus on basketball. Lin is simply a much better player at this point.
Reason why i agree with a trade like that is because yes, lin is a good player, but we have 2 other guards comparable to lin that are making not even close to half as much lin. This would give us a lot of cap room to play around with, and end up giving us a better return.
