First of all I don't want to trade them because I know that they are a big part moving forward and I still believe that Lin is the best PG on this team if given a chance and Asik is a good assurance when Howard needs a breather or getting injured. For all stars /superstars I agree w/ you that team will ask more from Houston if Rockets will go to that route.Right now if we compare regarding Deng/Hinrich($14.2m,4.02m respectively and Lin/Asik salary is ($8.3 and $8.3m)almost the same, they'll probably ask 1 more player from us.Chasing for one more superstar is a pipe dream for Houston because we all know that Parsons will be getting paid next year, how about TJones? teams will put a big offer on on him too, unless Morey/Les is willing to pay above salary cap, more over if they are willing to trade all the good players in exhanged for another superstar

Lol at the people wanting to keep Asik, he demanded a trade.

You think he will be happy being a backup all season?

Why does Chicago make this trade?

After this trade they would be...
    - Just as thin in the guard positions
    - Short an all-star caliber SF, already too shallow at the SF
    - Have too much money spent on the 4/5 positions
    - Still no closer to contending

Maybe if Parsons was included. Not likely.

First there not contending either way with Rose out

Second they will loose deng next year on free agency (they have shelled extension discussion and do not have the cap situation to retain him)
So get something or lose for nothing

Third they will most likely amnesty boozer next year and free taj to be starter allowing asik to be a super sub at the 4/5
(He can play with either Noah or taj for stretches)

Fourth they win this on talent for the future greatly...
Won't get much for deng in trade because he is a free agent and hinrich is old and has relatively low value

With that said no way we deal Lin in this trade he is way too valuable

Here's a possible Deng trade that improves all teams.

Bulls Get: Lin, John Salmons (1m guaranteed next year)
Rockets Get: Luol Deng, Chuck Hayes
    Kings Get: Asik

Bulls get an affordable scorer and lead guard (for now). Salmons personality fits the team and is serviceable SF to replace Deng. Can be had for cheap next season or waived ($1m). Presumably flip Boozer next year and net cap space for a MAX deal.

Rockets get their perimeter defender and all star talent in Deng, and improved bench with Parsons/Hayes. TJ and DMo still grow. Hayes is slightly over priced compared to other options, but a proven vet commodity for playoffs.

Kings have a true center, DMC can move the PF. Asik is 2 years out at best from meeting Rockets in the playoffs.

I'm not saying they don't deal Deng. They just don't do this trade. Deng will be gone by All Star. Also Noah isn't healthy now, but he's not going anywhere. Noah/Asik experiment was already tried.

Yah and it took a crazy unexpected offer from morey to steal asik from the bulls

The reason why his contract is the way it is

Sure, but Asik was on his way out regardless. He played himself out of being a Bull. The Bulls aren't going to pay for two 7 footers that rebound/defend but can't score. Bulls need scoring badly and lack cap flexibility to resolve it.

Also, I'm not a CBA pro, but it's been chronicled already that Boozer is a very poor Amnesty candidate. This is due to Chicago being so far over the cap that it more or less results in MLE value, which Boozer's talent far exceeds.

Asik and for scoring we add brooks? He'd be a good fit like Nate Robinson was

Throw the kitchen sink at Al Horford!

    Asik/Jones/Bev/1rd for Horford/Schroeder

That is a pretty good haul for Atlanta.

Horford makes sense, the play of Jones means it looks more possibly. Horford for Asik and Jones.

Horford can play the 5, stretch the floor. Would pursue getting Korver in the deal as well.

I still say wait until the deadline and see how far jones progresses.

Does Howard have a no trade clause because after the last few games I am starting to wonder if we even need Howard. What could we get for Howard instead of Asik?
