As far as Cushing is concerned, I can understand that sentiment. His injury last year would have given me pause but I respect their decision to wrap up an important player.

As for Foster, no there were a lot of eyebrows raised when the Texans gave him the money they did. The role of the running back and their importance has really changed the last 5 years or so.

Shaub's extension was for a long time and with a lot of guaranteed money.

My list doesn't even get into the players cut last year that were key pieces for other teams last year.

There is an element of bad luck (Cushing), but when you have it happen so often, and there is no real change in philosophy, it makes you wonder......

You forgot 3rd rounder OT Brennan Williams who may never play again with that knee and cutting 6th round DT Chris Jones.

LOL... Point out the obvious, get cut!...Never make adjustments/get out coached, get a high five from McNair! The Texans are starting to become a joke, all because we have an owner who is way to passive, and won't hold his coaching staff accountable!!! Getting rid of Reed (a major bust) doesn't solve a thing, it only proves that the coaching staff/gm got taken for a ride!!! I just feel real sorry for Andre Johnson, he really deserves a shot at a ring!

Hey, they wanted a veteran leader in the secondary..... they got it, they just didn't like it when he said that Texans coaches have their heads up their ass.

Ed Reed is the closest thing the Texans will get to a Super Bowl ring in the next 2 years

No one wanted to listen when I was harping on this two years ago and again last year. People kept saying things like "good teams have salary cap problems all the time!"

It is total bunk. Good teams get long sustained runs of success because they are replacing players quickly before their salaries blow up, while retaining their stars. When their stars start aging they slowly start to have salary cap problems.

We basically spent 6 years doing nothing and then got two good years in exchange for salary cap problems.

Aren't we gonna cut everyone and their momma? There will be dead cap space but shouldn't that free up cash to extend Watt, sign a quality FA or two?

We lost Quin for this. LOL

Shiloh Keo was twice the player Reed was for the Texans this season. Good riddance.

This. Great move there Rick. Gave MORE money (on a per year basis) to guy who didn't even play half the season.

Wasn't Ed also supposed to be a mentor to DJ? Another coach on the field? Even if he was slowed down in his old age, his knowledge was invaluable, right? I guess he shared everything he had to share.

Manning seems to be on a quick decline too. We could've had Quin and Swearinger together for the next few years.

I don't think it is really. I mean I know he wasn't playing very well, but if the free safety was really targeted that much they should have been giving up big bombs left and right.
