"Before the game, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld presented Jordan with the American flag that flew over the Pentagon on September 11, 2002 - one year to the day after the terrorist attack."
Did Jordan really deserve that? Hey, the Heat retired his jersey, so I guess the Wizards thought they had to something even bigger.
Jordan didn't deserve that. What a nightmare. His last home game, and he is forced to meet Rumsfeld. How horrible. Sorry Mike.
It sounds weird but MJ has done so much for the City since 9/11 Im sure that some people in DC have used his comeback for a distraction in the grieving process that they have gone through. It still sounds weird but it makes some sense
Let us not forget that Jordan personally donated his salary, two million dollars, to funds for the 9/11 victims, from the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons. Joke all you want about how a guy like him doesn't need any more dough, but that's still two million freakin dollars.
MESSAGE REMOVED BY AN ADMINISTRATOR<!-- That was just a photo op so that people might think better of Rumblesfeld---a scumbag, di**head, a$$hole, lying, condescending piece of s**t.....GWB's puppetmaster. -->
If it's anything like US flags over Congress, there could be hundreds of them for that day. They literally haul them up to the top, immediately pull them down, repeat until all the Congressman have enough to give away to constituents as favors.
Really? Is that true? Are you from DC? I guess it's cool if that's the case, but I've never really heard substantiation of the "sports helps heal wounds during bad times" theory. In any case, bravo to Jordan for donating his salary; I'm certain he wasn't looking for any recognition for it.
