That's right. all lines of comm are down in the province of Samar. I haven't heard any news about my family there.
Some areas of Samar appear to have taken the hardest hit. Guiuan in particular took a direct hit. I hope your family made it out ok.
So so sad. Such an unfortunate and sad story. I am sure there are more to come. Many prayers to those affected. Hope everyone on here hears from their relatives soon and keep us updated. http://www.cnn.com/2013/11/09/world/asia/philippines-tacloban/index.html?hpt=hp_t1 More Stories/Photos http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2494635/Philippines-super-typhoon-Haiyan-powerful-storm-history.html
Just found this image of Haiyan as it tracked towards the Philippines. Just an unbelievable display of Mother Nature. Image is kind of large. Spoiler Here is the microwave imagery. I've never seen anything with this stable structure on a microwave image. Just unbelievable.
Here is some raw footage from a storm chaser in Tacloban as the storm hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ke6ureLcpkk According to what I've been reading they took a very bad hit but luckily just missed the northern eye wall. This storms worst may not be over, however and while it has weakened considerably it may head right for Hanoi. It is very densely populated and very low lying and a storm surge there could be terrible.
Just wow. And unfortunately is Xenon said, this thing is far from over as far as death and destruction is concerned. This could have a chance to go down as one of the deadliest storms recorded.
There is still no word out of Guiuan (48,000 people live there). Fears the fatalities and damage in Guiuan will be much worse than Tacloban.
She just called me, everything was destroyed. She lost all her clothes. My two year old is traumatized right now. He seen alot of dead bodies and dead animals. One of her friends came on a fishing boat and took them to where the rest of her family lives. About two hours away from Tacloban. Im not sure whats going to happen anymore. I was supposed to go join them on the 5th. But im not sure ill be able to fly into Tacloban anymore...
I'm glad your family is safe. The was a quote from an official in Leyte that there may be 10000 dead there alone. Let's hope that he is wrong but from what the pictures coming out have shown is that the final numbers will likely be terrible.
I felt so... I dont even know. I havent slept. We where talking on the phone and she was telling me how strong the winds are and how she has never seen this. And she was raised there. Then click, gone. Cant get a hold of her. I could only watch the storm from home and just hope they where ok. Two days trying to call at least 100 times everyday. Then she calls me and tells me everything is ok. I was shaking so much. Thanks for your well wishes.
