I agree somewhat with the sentiment without the vitriol. He only went through one offseason before Price was hired. Also, the Bobcats did a coaching change this offseason, but did have coaches last offseason, too. That said, not all coaching staffs are the same. The Bobcats don't have consistency in coaching as they have had a different head coach each opening day for the past 4 years. This is a GM and owner problem.
I remember in the MKG draft that Morey offered Parsons and aaaaaaaaaall those first round picks to Charlotte in order to draft MKG. Gawd, how teams hoard those high draft picks. Probably best for us in the long run, although I think MKG would now be on the Thunder had MJ made the original deal that Morey offered.
This is total bull. The results speak to it. Totally ineffective coaching. Look, if you break a guy down and teach him to shoot one step at a time, there would be a noticeable difference in his rookie season. That could have been done last summer. Didn't happen. They jacked away a whole year of his development. And then they hire Price and he spends this whole summer changing the guy's base??? They've accomplished nothing and he's going to go into his third off season as the same shooter. Because you aren't going top be able to break down his shot and change it during the season.
Kahwi Leonard couldn't shoot at all in college, the Spurs made him able to shoot 3s fairly consistently. Bobcats organization is a cancer to the league, should just move this team to Seattle.
Historically speaking great players tend to be bad teachers, esp. guys like MJ who were blessed with just about every b-ball gift there is so a lot of the stuff he should be teaching MKG is as natural as breathing to him. Plus MJ isn't exactly known for his patience so I dunno how you expect him to teach a guy who still has broken J once he stepped in the NBA. Don't worry about him though, I'm pretty sure teams like the Rox are keeping tabs on him, hopefully we snag him once Charlotte lets him go in a few years.
The thing with MKG is that everyone knew his shooting needed a lot of help, and he has yet to recieve it. The guy plays hard, especially on the defensive side of the ball and I love watching guys that play hard defense. I too don't understand why MJ won't help out his young players.
This guy was such an overrated draft prospect, and he definitely wasn't helped out any being picked by the Bobcats. Career roleplayer with the 2nd pick.
The guy was drafted ahead of whom exactly that was jumping off the page for GMs? And how many draftees were as athletic, nose-for-the-ball, defensive-minded and gritty EIGHTEEN year old kids ahead of him in the draft exactly? He played back to back nights putting tremendous pressure on Melo & Gay, forcing them into some abysmal shooting percentages while himself averaging 78% fg shooting, 15 pts, 6 rebs, 2 blocks and 1 steal and that's just the things that make the stat sheet. I believe he created 3 jump balls as well.
I agree his shot is very bad. Let me ask you, is he not smart enough to hire a shooting coach and does he have the desire to actually fix his shot? I think it is up to him to work on shot in the off season.
