Ran in St. Paul this morning. Weather was nice, but wind chills ranged from the upper 20s to low 30s. I finished anywhere from 2:03 - 2:08. My watch was flaky and official results aren't in yet.
Nice! I remember when I first started XC, finishing my first 10 mile run made running distances seem so much less intimidating. Hope this does the same for you, keep it up!
I ran a practice half marathon a few weeks ago and ran a 2:07. Looks like my time for this one was 2:05. They had some electrical issues so the times are officially off, but based on everything we could check, 2:05 is pretty accurate. My goal was 2:07. Even though the wind chills were a bit chilly, the weather was great. No rain (which I did my practice run in) and the sun was out. This was the first official race of any distance I have ever done. I have now run about 1020 miles this calendar year.
That's good for your first half marathon. Don't they have electronic bibs where they give you your accurate time? Damn cold though. I've never run a marathon below 40 degrees. I'm trying to break 1.55 when I run in Atlanta on Thanskgiving.
They had an electrical problem which caused chip problems. It also showed I only passed 6 people and was passed by 1900+, neither of which was close to accurate. It essentially thought I started with the 'elite' runners as opposed to well back in the pack.

Grats man. I'm running the half marathon relay in downtown tomorrow. Did my first half marathon last year. Won't post my time for fear of bragging.
I fear the full marathon. I just don't think I can keep myself motivated training for that distance. I'm also not sure I could handle the wear and tear on my body. Good luck on your race.
I trained 4 months, 60 training runs and ran around 450 miles. I ran Houston in January and after all of that training, at 43 years old, it killed my knees. They never felt like that through any of my training, but it was well worth it. I was even diagnosed with bronchitis on the Tuesday before, and the weather sucked on race day. Nothing was going to stop me. I am doing my second half in December here in Victoria.
I am thinking about training for the 2015 Houston marathon and flying down there to run it. A big one up here is in Duluth in June and I don't think I'll be ready by then, plus I'd rather not plan on running my first one when it can be warm. I do think I could have easily (relatively) gone another 3 miles at a 9:45 pace yesterday, but that still leaves me 10 more to go. I plan on another half in March.
I have my race bib hanging in my room from the only half I've ever done. My 10-year old cousin asked me if I did a marathon, and when I told him a did a half-marathon, he didn't get what it was. When I explained it to him, he asked me if I quit halfway through the marathon and why I didn't just do the whole thing lol. Kids are the worst.
