We know about the top 11 (Harden Howard Parsons Asik Lin Beverly Casspi Garcia Jones Motiejunas Canaan). Give us the final four. My guess. In: Smith, Brewer, Brooks, Covington Out: Camby, Williams
My guess would be that too except for the fact that Camby has guaranteed money so that makes me wonder if they would really cut him since they have to pay him anyway
Cuts SHOULD be Williams Camby The league reimburses half of veteran minimum salary, not sure if it applies to waived players though. His cap figure could still hurt some It MIGHT be Williams Covington (Rockets will have Covington's D-League rights to RVG, though he could still sign with any team. Rockets could possibly make a gentlemen agreement with Covington that they could call him up later) Maybe Rockets do a small trade. Though not sure how much trade acticity happens before season opener
Williams is a guaranteed cut. I think Morey is going to go after Okafor when he gets bought out, so Camby is going to get cut.
The problem with cutting Covington is that another NBA team might pick him up off the waiver wire, even if only to assign him to their D-League team to develop. I guess it depends on whether other teams like him or not.
cut covington, daniels, wiliams lin/bev/canon harden/brooks parsons/garcia/casspi/brewer tj/motie/smith dwight/asik/camby send canon to dleague, and shift tj or motie in and out. (if he can play) camby will be huge if we trade asik. smith is a pf, not c. he cant defend centers w/o fouling out. and at least until tjones develops, he's the best pf option to defend centers. brook is too good to rot on the benc, so he should be playing with lin or bev, in spot minutes. casspi proved he's worth a reserve roster spot, and brewer is still a good defender. it would be stupid as hell to cut either of them.
Smith over Camby. signed Camby for veteran presence ... he can provide that just as ably with a chalkboard rather than a roster spot. depending on him for regular season mins is foolhardy.
Even with this: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/23716966/wizards-emeka-okafor-neck-out-indefinitely
Okafor will probably spend most of the season rehabbing that injury. But at least it's a herniated disk in his neck, not his back like Amare Stoudemire had, so it should heal quicker.
So I guess I might be the only one that thinks Brewer might not make this squad? Seems like with Parsons, Garcia and Cassipi there doesn't seem to really be a lot of minutes for him, especially since with Smith, Asik (or really Howard), Jones and Motiejunas probably going to get more time at PF unless McHale is planning on stashing Garcia on the bench until the playoffs.
In a league with filled with elite wing players, you can never have too many good perimeter defenders. Keep Brewer as a specialist defender. We could potentially be throwing Brewer, Parsons/Garcia and Casspi all at Durant. He'd have a hell of a night trying to score. Fresh bodies constantly.
I'm not really sold on Covington or Brewer, but they might just make it by default if Camby is out. Williams and Daniels are practically givens to be cut.
I don't trust Camby any more he's to old, injury prone with very minimal value around the league, I think he should get cut.
