So I have had a craving for a steak and wanted to get CF's opinion on where I should go. So far the best steak I had in Houston was at Del Friscos, I also had Shula's and Ibiza's and lesser TLC and Outback. Factoring in price what is the best bang for your buck (if it's really good i'm willing to pay)
Killens gets a lot of love nowadays. I've never eaten there. I love Pappas (#1...really amazing wine list), Vic & Anthony, Capital Grille, Del Frisco, Mortons (cajun rub is the t***). Next tier probably Ruths Chris, Eddie V's, Flemings
Best steak I've had was at Taste of Texas. Only been there once though because it is extremely expensive.
Pricey but Pappas is dam good and not to far from you. Fogo de chao if you want to step outside of the box of traditional steak.
I must eat here. It takes a minor miracle to get me to venture outside the loop, however. I may have to make an exception.
Here's a twist to the question: What's the best steak in town not served at a traditional steak house. Every great chef knows how to make them. The difference seems to be they run out some nights so you can't really count on taking a bunch of riches there after you signed a multi million dollar oil deal with them Oh and the steakhouses wil have better key lime, pecan and cobler pies Plus unlimited au jus, if you like that drizzled on your plate like me
the problem with this is that the non-steakhouses don't have the same cuts of beef. Steakhouses just have thicker cuts, which most folks prefer
uhhhhh.....ok. wtf does wet-aged mean. Sounds like a marketing gimmick to completely turn the tables on why "dry-aged" is best by pretending you have something new while admitting it's wet-packed. Wet usually means wet-packed beef. Not good. That's a process for meat that isn't going into your mouth as soon as possible. You want the beef out of moisture as soon as possible and into your mouth after the age-old (pun intended), long-proven, glorious drying process completes. please tell us more.
There's an awesome French restaurant in Montrose called Max & Julie's. They do amazing steaks. Actually, all of their food is amazing.
Another question what type of cut are yall, i don't do steak too often so i haven't really experimented so far NY Strip seems safe, i know bone in is supposed to be better no matter what.
