Thought this was worth a thread. Discuss.

LaMarcus Aldridge says he has expanded his game to shooting threes. LOL, it's nice for him to expand his game, it can't hurt his game since he's technically adding another weapon. BUT I don't see this Portland team needing their main 'go-to-post-guy' shooting threes. It won't hurt HIS game, but it might wreak havoc on the TEAM game. For the guys who like to dream, it does look like he's auditioning for a team which needs a stretch 4 since they already have a league dominating big in the middle. (*cough* ROCKETS *cough*).
Natural evolution of his game. He's always been a jump shooter and has nice touch from long range. He has a way better chance adding a dimension to his game by heading out to the perimeter as opposed to working with Hakeem to try and become more of a post weapon.
Lamarcus is a 43% midrange jump shooter. (Actually slightly lower.) He's something like 20% from 3. If he ups his 3-point accuracy to over 30% and simply moves out and takes those 3's instead of the long 2's, it will be a plus for his game. I love his stroke. I think he's got one of the most beautiful jumpers in the whole league. Unfortunately the reason that midrange percent is so low is because he constantly takes turnaround jumpers and jumpers after creating room for himself with a bump on the defender. As pretty as that jumper is...it's inefficient. Up to this point in his career he has basically taken a bunch of bailout type jumpers, shots that should really only be taken when the clock is running down and you can't get anything else, as the main staple of his offensive game. Needless to say...I'm very intrigued by this development. He should be able to hit the 3-ball consistently if he actually practices the shot. The mechanics are already there. And this would make him a lot more attractive to me as a trade target.
