I thought about doing one a couple of years ago but problems with my ankles and knees are keeping me from running much these days.

Did a Tough Mudder in Austin in '11 and a couple of smaller ones (warrior dash, etc.) around town.

All you need to commit to is doing it. Hell, I was a smoker when I did mine (since have quit) and found that since I wasn't going to win any races, I sure as hell was going to have fun. All I did was run, push-ups, pull-ups and planks (and different variations of each) for 5 months for my training. Again, I was not there to win…just finish. (btw, I’m pushing 60)

Last year I was in the middle of doing the P90X thing when I decided to do the Warrior Dash. Wow, that was ever so helpful. (core training is the boss)

And there are quite a few videos on mud race training. No matter what degree of training you do, you’ll find yourself finishing with a huge smile on your face with either of these thoughts: “Wow, I’m doing this again next year” or “can cross that OFF my bucket list”. I chose the latter

Lastly, it’s fun. It’s a “feel like a kid” fun…for my old ass anyway. While the more athletically inclined will take any race seriously, you’ll find most people just want to get out there and have fun, hang with their buds, helping each other with the obstacles…very TEAM oriented.

Knock yourself out, Xerobull, and have fun.

Well, my wife and buddy teamed up to browbeat me into committing. I'm going to start training tonight.

Anyone else going to do it in October?

We have a team of 5 of us signed up and going. I am 43 so i hope i don't die. Also, I *****ing hate getting shocked, so I will have to overcome that little fear of mine.

My girlfriend and my brother are both in this upcoming October one. She has completed one in Austin, and was signed up for the last one in Vegas but hurt her knee pretty bad the week before and wasn't able to run in it. Since she had to sit out that one she is really excited for this next one.

Suffice to say, I'm not as mudder as that guy. Playing Mass Effect while eating chocolate chip cookies seem more attractive to me.

Have fun, Xerobull. You'll feel great when done, sore, but great!

Thanks, RR! I'll keep an eye out for you, Stacy's knee, although I have no clue what you look like.

Why can't you guys just run a marathon (or half) like normal people?
