Since the Rockets missed out on signing Dunleavy jr. they had to fill that son-of-a-former-Rocket quota.
A glance at 82games and he's a plus when he's on the court almost every year. A few years ago, his plus numbers were excellent. I can't wait to see what McHale does with him.
i think Rockets are not able to afford him next year so he most likely will get traded away before the deadline. he will be a asset to any team if given the opportunity.
I think that's a very likely possibility, but I also think it depends on whether or not other moves are made and what happens in camp. If all the rockets plan to do between now and the start of the season is make a few cuts and move an asset or two for a future asset, to get to 15, moving Smith for a future pick makes a lot of sense; at least the present way our roster is constructed. If DMo or Jones gets moved Smith's chances of staying would increase. Likewise if a few guys flame out in camp.
Yeah lots of those guys were necessary fillers tossed in to make trades work. Though theres always a chance for a Francisco Garcia to make an impact, last year there was a bunch of Lazar Hayward/Etwaun Moore types in there who were not deliberately added roster additions.
Covington appears to be fully guaranteed for this season. If so, the odds are very good that he stays on the roster this season. At the very least if he gets cut I expect he will be in RGV for the year. Can't imagine Morey giving away that much money without either keeping the player on the roster or getting a commitment from him that if he doesn't make the roster he will stay stateside and play for RGV for the season.
That is pretty sick. And we'll need it to compensate for the defensive liabilities we are likely to have playing the 2 and 4 positions.
