    What if howard sits?
    What if harden sits?
What if both howard and harden sit?

What if both howard and harden sit?
where do we get scoring punch?...if harden and howard are BOTH sitting we pretty much have to play parsons and lin since parsons and lin represent our 3rd and 4th scoring option:

    Asik
    Dmo
    parsons
    garcia
    Lin

    without parsons
    Asik
    Dmo
    Casspi
    garcia
    Lin

If parsons harden howard sits our go to scorers are garcia and lin.

How do you feel about camby and Asik at times?:p
Dont flame me but a 2nd unit defensive juggernaut of camby/asik with Lin and Parsons offense is nasty:

    Camby
    Asik
    Parsons
    Garcia
    Lin

That's a pretty nice 2nd unit offense and defense! I know I will get flamed for even mentioning Camby/ Asik since everyone hates the howard/asik twin towers. Of course I never once mentioned pairing camby and howard. We can get to that later some other day.

    What if howard sits?
I think howard is going to be fairly limited minutes through season. So howard sitting is probably a very likely scenario and probably why we need to keep Asik.

Everyone is going on about not playing Asik enough, but with howard still easing his way back means more minutes for asik.

So really our 2nd unit is probably going to look like this most of the time:
    Asik/Camby
    Dmo/Jones/Smith
    Parsons/Garcia
    Harden/Williams
    Lin/Bev

That's a pretty good 2nd unit. My favorite being pretty much a rendition of last year:
    Asik
    Jones
    Parsons
    Harden
    Lin

We can certainly choose to play harden during those minutes howard sits. Or do we? That is one of my big questions.

    What if harden sits?

We are talking something like this:
    Howard
    Asik/Dmo/Smith Jones
    Parsons/ Casspi
    Garcia/Williams
    Lin/Beverly

    with
    Howard
    Asik
    Parsons
    Garcia/Williams
    Lin

    the most intriguing.

This thread is as much about how much we sit harden and howard?

I am not a huge Lin fan. but it is what it is and we need 2nd unit scoring. I think you have parsons and lin logging major minutes with the 2nd team.

As much as I like the idea of lin creating for harden and howard.. lin might be better served with 2nd team. That means a little more bev with howard and harden

lol the only time this lineup will be used is blowouts in the 4th quarter, i dont expect all 5 starters to ever sit at the same time

    that was the question.

How much do we sit harden and howard ??and do we sit them at same time?

my most intriguing lineup with howard harden parsons lin sitting:

    Camby
    Asik
    Casspi
    garcia
    Beverly

    also
    Camby
    Asik
    garcia
    Beverly
    Brooks

theres no answer because every game is different, this isnt 2k13 where auot subs do the exact same subs every game..

if someone catches fire or provides a good matchup in the game, expect them to play if their on starter minutes an extra 10-25% extra game time

    duh.

Doesnt need to be hardset my friend.

remember though.. teams thats are worth 2 farts have a fairly set 2nd team.

With that in mind we need our 2nd team to pretty much always have parsons and lin playing to provide scoring punch. Im talking about if/when harden and howard are sitting.

im sure when next seasons over barring any significant injury, our top 10 minute 5 man lineups will include atleast 1 of dwight or harden

Bout time someone mentioned Brooks. His outside shot will keep the middle open for the 2nd team. However I tend to agree with Voice that the rotation in the beginning will depend on who's hot & the opposition. Later on you can add "who's hot consistently".

I kept a record of MP from last season and my own estimation for this year's MP. You can base your minutes play (MP) with reference from last season.

I estimate a nine-man rotation before the trade deadline. The top 7 are locked. Eight players will fight for the last two spots, which will share about 42 min/game between them.

    Code:
Position	player 2012 MP	Est. MP
    SG	J Harden 38.2 36
    C	D Howard 35.8 32
    C	O Asik 30 24
    PG	J Lin 32.2 32
    SF	Parsons 36.2 34
    PG	Beverley 17.4 24
    SF	F Garcia 12.5 16
    PF/C	G Smith 13.5 --
    PF	T Jones 14.5 --
    PF	Donatas 12.2 --
    	Others 42
    			Total	240

    1. Assuming no injuries, there's no reason you'd really need to sit Harden and Howard at the same time. You could make sure you have one of Harden and Howard and one of Howard and Asik are on the court at all times to keep the pressure on.

    2. But, if you were to sit both, I'd want to make sure Lin or Brooks was on the court. No one else can create offense in a reliable way.

    3. Asik may still get plenty of court-time because of this rotation. If one doesn't want to play the twin towers because it'd clog the lane for Harden, you still have 8-13 minutes when Harden sits that you can go ahead and clog the lane, and run the offense through Howard with Asik on the weakside. Plus, another 10-15 minutes where Asik is the center and Howard sits, giving him 18-28 minutes a night, which isn't a big decline from last year.

Simple enough, one of Harden/Lin has to be on the court at all times, just like one of Howard/Asik has to be on the court at all times. Basically, barring injuries, if I were McHale, I wouldn't have the Rockets play a single second without at least 2 of those in the lineup. At least one capable ballhandler+iso/pnr scorer and one defensive anchor all day everyday.

I agree. Lin and Asik are highly valuable for this reason.
