Doesn't Boozer HAVE to be amnestied?

I estimate he would cost about 42 million to keep him if the Bulls can re-sign Deng. Depending on using salary cap exceptions, this total could go as high as 68.2 million. Amnesty would cost at most 16.8 million, but probably less if a team bids on him.

The Bulls could do other things to lower salary commitments, but it will have to involve Boozer, Noah, Rose, Deng, or Gibson to avoid paying a significant luxury tax. Boozer is the worst of the bunch.

Boozer is overpaid no doubt, but he is pretty solid and has always been.

Chicago really should have kept Asik and traded Noah for a PF. Then they could have amnestied Boozer. Now if they amnestied Boozer I don't know who is going to be their staring PF. Taj Gibson appeared to have regressed last year after he got his contract extension.
