You don't have to worry, i hatehome owners association fees, and racists. So I'll not be living by you anytime soon.
oh you show your face just to throw in a lame insult from the cheap seats? Glad I still dominate your thoughts, rookie
Excellent post. Think about that being a child, OP. I understand the situation may not be ideal, not having a fenced yard (and maybe you rent... don't have a clue), but having that dog where a child could get injured, or worse, god forbid, should be something you find unacceptable, IMO. So do something about it!
So your dog just lives on the end of a rope ? Did you not go over and speak to them at all ? What about the dog that was killed ,what did you do with him ?
I think it was their fault, but damn... As a dog owner I am really scared for them with all these pit bill stories. Losing a pet is Terrible, you should console them.
Is the dead dog still sitting in your backyard? I don't think you have any legal issues to worry about since this was on your property and the chihuahua was obviously unattended and entered your yard. Weirder things have happened though and since it is a pit bull, they may be a little harsher in regards to punishment. Also, did the family call the police or anything? If not, then talk to them and discuss a remedy for the situation. Maybe get them a new chihuahua or something. It obviously won't be the same but it would be a good gesture.
I had kinda same situation. I got home from work one day and saw a dead dog drowned in my pool (I forgot to lock the fence's gate that day) I brought it back to the neighbor (not next door but few houses across) and apologized to them. They were cool with it, even said that was their fault for letting the dog loose. And no they are not Hispanic
I have to agree that you should have been more proactive talking to the other family who will be upset at the death of their dog (even if it was its own fault). You don't want bad blood with the neighbors. It's not too hard to offer condolences. And honestly, it doesn't sound like the demographic to call cops or lawyers.
Thanks everyone. I should have been more communicative this morning before i had to leave. I tried going over there at lunch but no one was home. Unfortunately the dog is still in my yard and I'm leavihim alone out of respect. I plan on going over there after work and figuring something out. My dog lives on a runner. Trust me i hate it because i don't want him to not have freedom to go as he phrases. But i rent with no fenced in area.
What do you mean by "runner"? Im assuming that's bad autocorrect. http://www.houstontx.gov/health/quicktips/leash law.htm
So is the dead dog just sitting on your porch? Can they get to it or is your pit bull is chained up in your front yard?
