It's a challenge to stay in shape in America. It's too easy to let go and become another statistic of obesity. Physical appearance (for general looks and for the job) and health are my main motivations.

I don't see why this should be any different from brushing my teeth or bathing. There is social pressure to do those things regularly but the main reason I do it is for general health, cleanliness, and my own personal self respect. The consequences of poor health or obesity may be delayed when compared to poor hygiene but that doesn't make them any less real.
Variety of reasons: you feel better, you feel more confident, you have more energy, you live longer, and you perform better
Because I have worked way to hard to get my self in this running shape to let it go. If I want to get off work and run 5 miles, I can with no problems, I want to keep up my cardio. Plus it keeps the weight off.
