If Asik and Howard plays together, hacking them might help Rockets offense. I am sure FTs will be the last thing our offense will be worried in this case.
Asik defeated that strategy when the Thunder tried it. So I'm not worried, because Dwight'll follow suit.
Obviously. Especially since he did it by the whopping margin of 1 extra freethrow more than his season average would have predicted. Scandalous!
They'll be playing very limited minutes together. There is no current long term twin-towers solution unless you speculate Donuts into the mix. The skillset of Dream and Sampson is nothing like what you're proposing.
It means we are winning, so that's good, and the strategy only works if we can't stop them on defense. So it's on us there. And it only works is they can make their shots. So as ugly as it is, think it favors the Rockets in the long run.
err, they can only hack 1 player right? So by having other teams Hack a Dwight, its actually an improvement from last season with Asik the one shooting lower percentage...
Like someone already said, having them on the court together doesn't affect the Hack strategy at all. They'll only send one person to the line at a time and they'll foul them on the other side of the court even if they don't have the ball in their hands. It would just be like having one of them out there. Spacing is the issue not free throws.
Is hack-a-X such embarrassing situation for a winning team? I really don't think so... If a 52% FT shooter is intentionally fouled and going to the line, that'll mean 1.04ppp offence for them. And of course no potential TOs and quick fast break 2pts given up. Personal fouls on their key players(who are on the court in critical moments of the game), which may mean annoying foul troubles for them in OT(if needed). Isn't it a pretty efficient offence? Thoughts?
Portland's coach only went hacking in Game 1 and hasn't gone for it since. Game 6 has the pressure squarely on them, so let's see if they resort to hacking tactics again.
