Hinkie's first action is to remove Andrew Bynum. The 2nd action is to get Royce White. Despite both of them hadn't been in NBA court for the whole season. Sam Hinkie as the assistant GM of Rockets and GM of Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He surely know White is better than Bynum. Hinkie will not let White go to other teams except his new team. Hinkie surely needs to try to prove than he is better than Morey!
ESPN has updated the story -- the international prospect we have to give up is Furkan Aldemir ( http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9453486/houston-rockets-send-toubled-royce-white-philadelphia-76ers-report-says) That's too bad -- I know Morey and co really liked that kid -- and I had my hopes a bit on him too. Oh well -- maybe Morey has learned a lesson from the White ordeal, especially coupled with what we loss from the Terrence Williams debacle.
This might be a "bro" move, Hinkie was part of the Rox fo. For all we know, getting rid of White was the asking price of the Rox for letting Philly interview Hinkie in the first place. BTW Jrue Holiday trade was great for the Sixers, they got a top pick and another pick next year while saving cash and making the team worse so they can tank even more.
Even if White gets his stuff together and turns out to be an All Star player who leads the Sixers to the NBA finals while outplaying LeBron James, I will never fault the Rockets for this trade. They did everything they could to make this work, IMO.
The 76ers also acquired the rights to 2012 draft pick Furkan Aldemir. The Sixers will send Houston future considerations. What does that mean? We sent 76ers: Royce White (AWESOME MOVE) and Furkan Aldemir. What do we get in return?
Most likely, it's a future top-55 protected second round pick. As in, we'll never see that pick. (Just a guess, though.)
Williams and White turned out bad but I'm glad to see DM take those chances, I don't think you can always be conservative.
That was poetic. But man, that White pick really, really looks bad now. Bad enough we used a pick on him, but we had to give up one of the international guys too. I don't fault Morey for taking the chance, hindsight is 20/20, but man. And the worst part is, we never even saw him play! For all we know, he might actually amount to something (if there's any order in the universe, he won't. And I'll smile.)
Well, Royce White was an absolute cancer. I guess we have to look like it from the perspective--that we traded a solid Int'l prospect to rid our team of cancer. To me that's a WIN! Goodbye RW--be well when the Philly fans tear your arse up. Great job Morey, now remember this lesson well.
We want our damn bus back! Dwight and James doing the H-Town shuffle on the bus...<a href="http://photobucket.com/images/bus%20gifs" target="_blank"><img src="http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e296/DukeOvErl/GIFs/on_bus.gif" border="0" alt="bus gifs photo: Bus Dummy on_bus.gif"/></a>
