Lakers have been saying for a while that they're fine with letting him walk for nothing to free up cap space for next off season when Gasol and possibly Kobe come off the books, letting them make a run at someone like LeBron.

Whether or not they were serious is another matter.

Not surprising that they'd roll with fake info. Thanks for the heads up.

They will break it a little later true, not that much though...not for this. They'll just stop what they are doing and put up the big breaking news thing. Or the ticker will make that "Da da duh, da da duh!" sound and it will flash at the bottom.

Exactly. Dwight's agent, out of respect, is probably notifying each team of his decision, and that he thanks them for the meeting, etc. I think that's the right way to go about it rather than just announcing it without telling the other teams- so, those teams are probably mentioning to their media contacts about his decision. So, when they say we'll know within the hour, it's because they're taking the time to contact each team he met with. It could be that we find out about the "winner" through process of elimination unless the rejected teams do not mention it in the media (you knew Cuban would do this, though.).
