Fair enough. And if I'm Dwight Howard, I'm wondering why this team wouldn't show the faith in me to commit to them. Its about trust, and that goes both ways. It COULD be another sign of disrespect to Dwight...who knows.
So in other words, it comes back to winning. Which means all this slam dunk marketing presentation did was cement in Dwights mind he needs to get the hell out of LA in order to ever realize any of these opportunities.
That's a good thing...there was like 100 of them last night and about 80% of them came from one person
Not the thread for these kinds of questions. This thread is for news updates, tweets, articles, and awkward homoerotic gifs pertaining to either Dwight Howard or Ron Paul.
So... 1) Lakers pitch consisted of mainly we're the Lakers and here you get lucrative marketing deals that you can't get anywhere else, they just haven't happened yet because you haven't signed a long term deal. Also you get your own reality show. Also we're going to be better somehow next year with our best player gone. Also we're going to be a major player in free agency next year, we promise. Also Steve Nash is a sprightly 40 year old, he's been studying tape on Westbrook all summer and will be ready to defend him. 2) Josh Smith hasn't signed with anyone yet...kinda interesting. 3) It's win/win for us no matter what happens. If a pitch that consists of everything except BASKETBALL manages to get him to stay, we wouldn't have wanted this guy anyway. Reality shows, movies, publicity stunts, magazines all take time away from what he *should* be working on. Come to Houston, train with Dream, win a title. Stay in L.A., divide your time, be mediocre, get hated. We'll be fine, either way.
Yeah... it's kinda hard to raise your marketability when the entire Laker fanbase blames you for all their woes. Just ask Pau Gasol. Lakers are trying to convince Dwight that he'll be the franchise savior. But if the past year is any indication, Dwight is faaar more likely to become the franchise scapegoat. The fans with their ridiculous expectations will always seem him for all his flaws, and will never miss an opportunity to take him for granted. Again, just ask Pau Gasol. He has already spent more years as a pariah in L.A. than a hero. If Dwight wins a title in L.A., Laker fans won't say he got his first ring. They'll say he has two less than Shaq. L.A. is not a healthy place for Dwight.
I just don't want to log on and see a bunch of users active only to find out Dwight is signing elsewhere.
What the hell? Ramona Shelburne: One THEORY that wont go away is that Rockets option is smoke to throw people off scent Dwight has been ticketed for Dallas all along. Twitter Read more at http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#ax0zz9iGiy84CtBP.99
Yep, winning is most important. When Dwight was contending in the East in Orlando he had all that. So if Dwight wants to star in horrible movies like this Spoiler Then he should follow Durant's model. Win. Be engaging and likeable. Sure being in LA helps, but that's going to work against him if he's not delivering championships. As someone said, they are going to scapegoat him for their downfall and he'll be closer to Marbury then Shaq...
