As a retired military guy, what Deck is delivering on Royce is something we refer to as "Tough Love." Most of us either played ball or just plain love the game. I played with some guys with NBA talent, but they were missing either the head, heart or both to take advantage of their physical gifts. Royce is still young and still talented, but if he's going to be successful in this sport he's going to have to overcome his problems. BTW, we all have issues, some never put a name or acronym to them, they just press on and make it happen. Courage is born when you overcome fear. Getting there is within all of our control if we want it bad enough ( do it yourself or get the right help).

The worst draft pick in all of sports. Makes the Jamarcus Russel pick look genius.

Work - yes, like showing up to work - right, something Royce can't be bothered to do.

The guy is a cancer - get him off this team, stat.

I really hate all the negative posts on Royce White. The guy has a mental illness and I would not ever expect to act Royce to be just normal. That won't happen. There is going to be a learning curve with a young player and he has to be able to improve his game, control his mental illness, and mature as a professional.

Coaches would have just cut a player already with average skills by now with Royce's issues. But Royce has a huge ceiling. With a player that athletic and talented you need to give him time to learn to control his illness and mature as a professional. If the Rockets stay the course and give him the time needed they will eventually have on helluva player on their roster.

In a league with Lebron James and Kevin Durant, the Rockets could use a player with size and athletic ability that can make their jobs difficult on both sides of the court.

I don't care how young he is, he is still a young adult and has ZERO excuse not to go to work. If he can't perform, he's worthless and needs to get his ass kicked to the curb.

Yeah, you are probably right, in a league with Lebron and Durant, Rockets could use a player with size and athletic ability and less ego issues.

He is hiding behind his mental issues... hello didn't you find out?
He has zero credibility, zero integrity, zero professionalism.

Helluva player on the court yes... he can't even stay on the court in the Dleague... has problems guarding, playing against Dleague competition,
less able, less athletic, and about the same size as some Dleaguers.

He is not a rolemodel for young kids, getting women pregnant, eating arse, stealing laptops, and just keep on stealing money from our dear organization. Have I mentioned he is a master mind manipulator and liar?
Yeah he is having his ways in the Twitter Universe I guess that's positive for you.

After seeing Royce play in summer league and the D League it's pretty evident that he lacks the athleticism/quickness for his skillset to succeed in the NBA. He's just not athletic enough to play that type of game at the NBA level. It seemed pretty obvious. So unless he was just horribly out of shape or injured I don't think there's anything remotely resembling a Lebron or Durant capability in his future. This is not even talking about his attitude and lack of professionalism which is really his biggest problem.

Man, I'm really disappointed in White, but this comparison is not even remotely close.

buy him out? his cash is guaranteed. Without assurance from another team he'd get signed and play he has no reason to give money back to leave and I doubt another team is going to come to him with that promise.

Seriously, if we can't void this fool's contract, then what the hell is even the point of a contract? Seems like it is completely one-sided.

As others have said...he is as good as gone. Rockets are being careful and smart unlike me who would have acted on emotion and told him if he doesn't show we're suing his ass for the money he never earned.

This is what I gather too. They've put him in quarantine and waiting for either his contract to expire or for a trade to become available. He's done as a Rocket, and probably as an NBA player.

So why did he not contact DM or coach if you have not heard from them?

Royce White has singlehandedly set back the mental illness community. It will be a long time before anybody with a sketchy mental health status gets drafted high.

Would any team take him if we threw in the portland picks?
