This is a very good, and perceptive post. If D12 wants to improve his brand, he does not want to be associated with a team who is not even close to competiting with its town rival, the Clippers. Clippers are the cool, Lakers are not.
That will probably piss off Dwight. Imagine a bevy of celebs telling him to "Stay". Maybe some will say "Sit". "Roll". Poor Dwight.

Now is not the time to be a Laker. Disaster last season. Team is old. Clippers are better, and the gap seems to be widening. MDA, Kobe and Nash are stuck there. Of course they want someone to help keep the life raft afloat. Howard never seemed high on going to LA after Kobe "recruited" him before the start of last year. Now is his chance to leave the Titanic before it starts to tip over completely.
