I'm curious where will Josh Smith meet with the Rockets? Isn't Morey waiting for Dwight for an answer in LA? Howard, Smith and Harden is Durant's worst nightmare and Kobe/Duncan faster retirement. Defensively offensive!!!

 

I hope morey told Dwight about this proposal

Why would LMA want to go to a headed nowhere team like this Hawks

 

LMA has no choice.

 

He is the one asking to be traded, and we all know those stars always have a say on where they are traded.

Asik for Josh Smith makes perfect sense. Also, Smith can use a team like Detroit or the Bucks as leverage to let Atlanta know they are definitely losing him.

The trick to making this happen though is all about the dollars and cents-

-The Rockets have to somehow find a way to move Jeremy Lin and clear up "some" cap space. Josh Smith will command more than just the 8.4 mil that Asik's salary will clear up.

The Hawks wanting Asik is one thing, but wanting to take back Lin and Asik is another.

-I think the reason why Jose Calderon & the Pistons were targeted by Houston is because the Pistons-
-have a ton of cap space to make this kind of deal happen
-need to bring in a name to draw interest
-and most importantly Jose Calderon might be able to fit into Houston's mid level expection.... allowing them even more salary cap flexibility.

 

I think by moving Lin for Calderon, we'll be better. Addition by subtraction. Calderon takes care of the ball, great assist to TO ratio, great 3pt shooter. If we have both Dwight and JSmoove, we don't need him to be an elite defender. He just needs to stay in front of his man and challenge shots without commiting fouls.

 

Rockets can trade Asik for 150% of his salary plus 100,000. Will Smith command more than ~12.6 million?
