So basically, the Clippers must find a way to unload Caron Butler to make room for a Dwight Howard S&T.

If they trade just D. Jordan + Picks for Garnett/ Doc-

they are still way over the cap with the cap hold of CP3 on the books.

If they have to take back Terry/Lee as well, It really puts them in a bind for a S&T for Dwight.

So the key for the Clippers is finding someone or enticing the Celtics somehow to take back Caron Butler.

I just dont see what motivation the Celtics have to take back Butler if even just for a year.

So maybe this deal is actually better for the Rockets' pursuit of Dwight because it potentially makes him going to the Clippers less of a reality.

Don't know about that, we'd still have a ton of cap space and flexibility. It suck, but it's not like Miami in 2010 where it was the end all be all.

Still grappling with a decision? You already quit on Boston? What are you grappling?

Rivers is probably charismatic enough to make going back to Boston work..... Tough sell though....

I just want LAC to bow out of the D12 sweepstakes.

Not sure what sort of conflict Doc is having at this point. He's already abandoned his team and I don't see any situation where he comes back. Not to mention that if he did, he'd have no respect in the locker room.

    Yup, Clippers still get screwed.

Just give it up on Howard and Paul coming here(and screwing other teams in the process, ha).

Cleveland could be that d*** team to take Caron and a draft pick in exchange for a trade exemption.

I'm actually pretty sure that the Lakers won't help the other team in the same building build a title contender.

    Another snag?

The Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Clippers are back in trade talks that would ultimately allow Doc Rivers to be the Clippers' next coach, but -- after a day in which the sides appeared to be moving closer together -- another snag has arisen.

Now it appears the snafu stems around the Clippers not wanting to take back the contract of either Jason Terry or Courtney Lee.

Boston is open to not including Bledsoe, but only if the Clippers accept either Terry or Lee's contracts.

"Still at it" was how someone close to negotiations described the state of matters this afternoon.

Lol, so what exactly ARE the Clippers willing to do then? Other than jumping at the opportunity of getting out of the DeAndre Jordan contract, it really doesn't seem like much.

Not going to go back through every post in the thread but something was mentioned on PTI that I'd forgotten about.

Stephen A mentioned the possibility of this trade first I believe. Folks like myself laughed at it and called him silly and the idea, just more Stephen A ridiculousness.

He deserves credit for bringing this up first right? Looked silly at the time and now it's being considered.

Morey should offer Lin, Rosinbon, 1st round pick and McHale for Garnett and Lee and Doc.

I could see how they'd be leary of taking back Terry, but Courtney Lee would be an excellent pickup for them. Start Lee and bring Crawford off the bench.

    Hilarious scenario:

Clippers end up with KG and Doc...

We end up signing cp3 and trading for Dwight. Think of the Clippers roster.

If any team in the NBA would mess up that bad, it would be the Clippers. They've been doing too well for the Clippers to NOT make something go really really wrong.
