Fail. Civilians are not supposed to give the military salute.

Win. Kid didn't have US Code Title 36 in his pocket, did the most respectful thing he could think of. What else could you ask for?

Win. The kid has guts. He was kinda nervous but what he did despite the embarrassment deserves character points for me.

Why did he salute with no cover?

Definite win. Plenty of kids would of pissed themselves in that situation. I am sure he was unaware that civilians do not salute the flag, maybe he saw his grandparent/parent/sibling do it.

What's the rule for flag saluting in Awhstrehleah, man?

In Mexico we salute with a flat hand and whole index finger over the heart side of the chest:

I get mad when I don't see the MEXICO National Football Team do that before every game.

    ^ nazi?????

I must be the only one who thinks the whole thing looks staged. Either that or the kid is just akward.

    HUGE WIN!!!!

As a former crash cymbal player, I can tell you that there was an equipment malfunction that caused the cymbal to drop. I think the young man handled a difficult situation in a dignified manner.

Yeah, you can't just pick up the cymbal and start playing again. The strap obviously came untied.

I have no idea how the snare drummer kept his composure.

This reminds me of the time in high school when I dropped a cymbal in a pile of dog poop right before playing the finale to 1812 Overture at a 4th of July concert.

Memories.....like the corners of my miiiiind....
