Of course the team would be better. But the question is, how much better? I honestly dont see us making it even to the WCF without a reliable post threat. This is why I'd rather have DH12. He and Asik would dominate the paint. Not to mention Lin/Harden-Howard P&R's
No...it does not become more magnified because Paul has skills that Lin does not. Mainly that you do not leave Paul open and you do not want to leave one man watching Paul because he can get past almost anyone in the NBA and create.
Sign CP3 outright with the cap space. Deal Asik and Lin to the Lakers or a third team for Dwight in a S&T. CP3/Beverley Harden/Anderson Parsons/Garcia(vet min?) Motie/Jones Dwight/Smith At least the WCF every year.
you would need to cut/trade everyone on the roster except for Harden, Parsons (cheap contract) and Beverley (already on min. contract) in order to have enough cap to maybe sign both CP3 and D12 and hope to round out your roster with a bunch of vet. min. contracts.
Rockets will have ~$18 million in cap space. CP3's contract starts at ~$18.7 millions. The Rockets would only need to clear 700k (trade #Royce with a pick) to go through the steps I've already outlined and would have nearly a full squad ready to go: Dwight, CP3, Harden, Parsons, DMo, Jones, Beverley, Anderson, Smith, Olbrecht and whatever D-Leaguers and 2nd rounders Morey miraculously finds. And your favorite player will no longer be hindered by the Rockets' terrible and racist organization.
if Dwight and CP3 want to play together, they'll take a cut ala Miami's trio, heck I can see Miami's trio opting out after next season, just to take further cuts to keep the juggernaut rolling.
Someone post the last time a maxed out point guard won a championship. I'm pretty sure even Fisher never punched someone in the nuts on the court. If it was the National b**** Association, CP3 would be winning rings left and right.
Didn't Fish punch himself in the nuts once, and use it as an excuse to weasel his way to a contending team?
If we want two with Harden, Parsons, and a decent enough bench for a five year window, Les is going to have to spend. I think Les will spend.
The point is it really doesn't matter what position you play. I hate the whole "Great PGs don't win championships." thing. Great players do win championships no matter what position they play at.
id welcome both to come, but are they going to come? highly doubt it cp3 is the better player, but id go with howard, he seems to fit in more with harden's style, and keep asik as well if thats possible
Chris Paul is already on a supposedly good team, and they flopped in the first round. Not only is Dwight a better player, but he's a center. He'll fit in way better than Chris Paul. I feel uncomfortable with the idea of maxing out at the wings.
Isn't the rule to go with the big man over the guard? Harden Josh Smith Howard That's a big 3 we can win with. Parsons will be our defensive stopper and marksman. Lin will be our Maloney (jk - playmaker, passer)
Agree!! CP3 is not only a better player but also a better teammate and he's not going around getting his coaches fired! He's also like a coach when he's on the floor. Asik will improve in his second year as a starter and thats not even talking him costing around 12million less per year! ....... ....... .......
6-foot distributors who are among the highest-paid players in the league do not. I can't think of a worse fit for Harden.
Anyway, if you think the Heat are gonna stay together for the next 5 years, you need to beat them on the inside, plain and simple. Paul and Harden would be neutralized by their perimeter defense, and then if your big's can't take advantage of their small front line, you're not winning a 7 game series.
