His mom isn't suing him. The auction company is suing him.

I don't know his relationship with his mom, but couldn't she have just come to him for the money to buy the house instead of selling his memorabilia? I mean the guy's worth a couple hundred million so it's not like the 450k for the house is all that much...

My guess....Kobe gave the memorabilia to her with the understanding she was going to keep it, like how parents keep their kids youth sports trophies. The relationship went bad over the last few years, so Kobe cut back on his support.

Ditto. Some people just cannot read.

So Kobe tried to sue the auction company to try to get his things back.

i dunno, i can't imagine the 450k is actually for buying a house. seems more likely that the 450k is shopping money for the mom.

your clarification is correct. The practical matter is the mom tried to sell Kobe's stuff when he basically didn't want her to. He is in effect suing her indirectly when he sued to stop the auction as she entered into a contract with the auction house. He is claiming its his stuff not hers, whiles she is claiming its hers.
