I was listening to some classic Outkast and Wu-Tang today, and I wondered who I thought was the best group out of both. Which led me to the question: "Who is the greatest hip-hop group of all time?"

I listed a couple of classic groups to refresh everyones memory, might have forgotten one/a couple. Feel free to add/make a cause for another group.

    Outkast
    Wu Tang Clan
    The Roots
    NWA
    8-Ball & MJG
    Three 6 Mafia
    Geto Boys
    UGK
    Public Enemy
    Westside Connection
    Mobb Deep
    Clipse
    Bone Thugs
    De la Soul
    Beastie Boys
    Run DMC
    Little Brother
    A Tribe Called Quest

It's a close call, and I can't really decided, but I might have to go with Outkast. Though they aren't "badboy hiphop", they created their own genre. Not only where they successful, but they where original and André is up there with some of the greatest to ever spit. So much clever things in his lyrics.

How about Deltron 3030 (see Clutchfans name)? Sure, they've only released one album (soon to be two), but it was a damn good one.

But seriously, my vote would go to Wu-Tang. Bother their individual work and collaborative works are studded with classics and have had a huge impact on hip-hop in general, particularly in production styles, subject matter, and flow/delivery.

    Both*

Also, I would throw Hieroglyphics into the mix.

For me, although severely underrated and not really a group but rather a duo, Gangstarr would take the cake. The combination of Guru's incredible lyrics and monotone style with Primo's sick beats made for some absolutely incredible tracks. Moment of Truth might be the single greatest album (and song) I've ever heard in my life:

I'm also a big fan of a JMT and AOTP.. Both are great, angry underground rap perfect for intense workouts haha.

But, for a more main stream answer, Wu Tang would probably be my choice.

The group that paved the way for fellas like Outkast...

But this is definitely too hard to pin down to one group. I actually love most the groups on the OP list.

And if we're including duos, Blackstar has to be up there.

Outkast and Run DMC aren't a duos?

If we're going by the OP then they should be included.

I like Blackstar but wouldn't rank them too high on my list.

    Outkast
    Wu Tang Clan
    A Tribe Called Quest
    NWA
    Eric B. and Rakim
    Geto Boys
    Public Enemy
    Bone Thugs
    De la Soul
    BDP
    Run DMC...

    Maybe somewhere down here Blackstar.
